Who will be the speaker of the national assembly, or what role will play to choose someone? Apart from this, who would be best suited for the speakership?

I thought the opposition will have input into this process. Maybe I am wrong. I would not recommend a person from the PPP or PNC. Get a small party leader.

Can Ralph Ramkarran hold that post since he is a former speaker?

He could. But wouldnât. Time for new blood. Tim Jonas would be perfect but Iâm told he is not interested. Letâs wait and see.

If were the PPP, I would not tie any bundle with him. When he did not get the speakership in 2015, he left the party.

I believe he would have been a great choice.

Thatâs not why he left. He left in 2012. He was cheated out of the Presidential candidacy for the 2011 election.

He didn't get the Speakership in 2015 because the coalition outvoted the PPP/C by 0ne vote. The Speaker used to be chosen from the opposition party, but Burnham's constitution was at play. The Speaker might be chosen from the CIVIC and not from the Opposition party or any Mushroom Party.

Yet you supporting Ratman !!! he called the shots in the PPP.
After members of parliament are named and sworn-in, the process to determine the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly will take place.
PPP must appoint a PPP leaning member as speaker. PNC took the speakership twice even when the PPP was the ruling party ! Time for PPP to make a smart decision and not give away the speakership.

Speakers of the national assembly are supposed to be neutral in nature, isn't it?
Never has been that way, not even in Canada.
Look at what the PNC speaker did at the NCV. The NCV vote was passed and yet he allowed for a second vote. That was unacceptable. The first vote was final.
Dr Vindhya Persaud

Highly unlikely.

Isn't this derailing the topic?

Trotman wasn't.
You have to appoint someone with the knowledge of the Standing Orders of Parliament.

He would be biased against the PPP. There is no way in hell he would get the job. The PNC would never nominate him.

You looking for the Moderator job???
The PPP should have 5 VP and many non elected officers, just like what the PNC did. This time they MUST take care of their own FIRST. When the Black PNC was doing and saying the same nobody complained.
With precision chopping, I would have all the ministries sanitized.

Traditionally the ruling party chooses the Speaker and the Opposition chooses the Deputy Speaker.
