Wolf’s Challenge Softball Cup… Yusuf, De Monick slam centuries

Centuries by Yunnis Yusuf and Roxanne De Monick highlighted the latest round of matches in the Wolf’s Challenge Softball Cup which concluded on Sunday.
Yusuf struck 120 to help Floodlight to a massive 194-run win over Parika Defenders at Malteenoes Sports Club. Yusuf clobbered fifteen fours and twelve sixes in scoring 120 and got support from Ramesh Narine 47, Patrick Khan 45 and Wayne Jones 36 as Floodlight posted 286-7 off their 20 overs, batting first. Parika Defenders were sent packing for 92 in 11.3 overs in reply. A. Kumar made 20 as Dharam Persaud, Richard Khellawan, Jones and Clyde Canterbury picked up two wickets each.
Mike’s Wellman overcame Bel Air Rubis by six wickets. Bel Air Rubis batted first and managed 141 all out in 19.5 overs. B. Mulla made 29 and Danny Mohanram 23; Greg De Franca snared 3-18, Ron Ramnauth 3-29 and Eon Lovell 2-24.
Mike’s Wellman replied with 145-4 with Latchman Kallicharran scoring 57 and Lloyd Rooplall 50. S. Sankar took two wickets.
At Gandhi Youth Organisation, HS Masters beat Wolf’s Warriors Masters by 64 runs. HS Masters got to 152-8, taking first strike. Danny Mohanram got 43; Basil Badassee hit 29 and Hackim Majeed 19. Wolf’s Warriors Masters responded with 88 all out in 17.3 overs. Fazlim Bacchus scored 32; Mahendra Arjune captured 3-12 and Hanoman Singh captured 3-17.
In the female category at MSC, Trophy Stall Angels defeated Blue Divas by 88 runs. Trophy Stall Angels scored 201-3 in 15 overs. Roxanne De Monick slammed 100 from 33 balls to become the first player to score a century for her team. She cracked four fours and ten sixes, while Akelo Castello made 46 and Odessa O Neil 28. D. Amos had two wickets. Blue Divas were restricted to 113-7 in reply. M. Taitt made 31 as Amanda Rogers claimed 2-23 and Jenelle Nero 2-25.
Trophy Stall Angels beat 4R Lioness by four wickets. Batting first 4R Lioness made 96 all out in 14.1 overs. Akaze Thompson got 28 and T. Wilson 19; Natasha Leacock had 3-25 and Aneesa Persaud 2-19. Trophy Stall Angels responded with 98-6 in 12.4 overs. Heema Singh made 33; Thompson grabbed 4-22.
