Woman shot dead, sister injured by wanted man

One woman was Friday night shot dead and her sister injured at a home at Fyrish Village, Corentyne. A man wanted for another murder is believed to be the assailant.
Another man, who eyewitnesses said was at the scene, was arrested at Nigg Village. He has, however, maintained that he was at home when the incident occured about 10:30 PM.
The dead woman has been identified as Patricia Samaroo of Number Two Village, Canje. She was shot to her head. Her sister, Anita Samaroo, was shot to her abdomen nad was rushed to a hospital where she remained a patient up to Saturday morning.

Police were told that Anita, at whose house a family event was being held, was shot when she held on to the gunman and asked why he had shot her sister.
Investigators said the allegd gunman is Deodat "Popcorn" Seecharran who is wanted for another murder.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
Other sources said Seecharran and another man barged into the house at Lot 10 Section B, Fyrish Village claiming that they were policemen. One family member said the men took away GUY$40,000.
