LONDON, (Reuters) – British pop singer George Michael, who shot to fame in the 1980s with Wham! and continued as a solo artist, died on Sunday at his home in England. He was 53.

“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” his publicist said in a statement.

RIP George. Back in 1988/1989 George's songs from Faith made the top 10 list some 50 something straight weeks. The 80's was the best decade for pop music and George Michael was a big part of that.
