Yesu Persaud is priceless for Guyana as a nation.  With his knowledge of the world liquor markets and his connections in these markets, the man could have started his own company and easily become very rich like Beharry/D'Aguair but instead he served a Guyanese public company which helped the nation and all Guyanese as a hold. All Guyanese owe Yesu Persaud a priceless debt.

Among the pantheon of successful and impactful entrepreneurs in Guyana Yesu Persaud is a stand-out. He made DDL (and its predecessor GLC) into a superior brand image, and helped micro-loans get started.

 

He was a wise man who was the subject of an ill-advised tirade by the former President Jagdeo.

Yesu was a good deal better off in 1992 than Jagdeo and any of the merry band of PPP theives were.

That's because he was allowed to accumulate wealth under the PNC even thought everything else was nationalized and businesses were under duress.

Yesu has worked his way up. As a student in the UK he worked as a cleaner at a railway station.

 

Has anyone accumulated wealth under Jagdeo PPP? Yes or no?

* Yesu played his cards well during the PNC days and he prospered.

 

* There were many other East Indian business people who played their cards well during the illicit PNC rule---the Kissoons, the Yassins, the gafoors, Toolsie Persaud, and many others---and they all prospered.

 

* The East Indian businesses that perished were those that chose to stay loyal to the PPP.

 

* Gimpex perished under Burnham.

Yes through being friends with Jagdeo/Ramotar/Brassington/Ashni/Irfan/Priya the most corrupt lot. 

Then all of a sudden he is a multi millionaire. This is how thiefman make their way up in life. How PPP minista without a pot to piss in suddenly get mansions?  How Yesu accumulate wealth when he started out as a cleaner? All thiefman runnings. 

A businessman like Yesu has the ability to make any company a success. With Yesu running things it gives investors confidence to invest in that particular company. He has a sharp eye to spot talent. If Yesu was younger like 70 year old I would have liked to see him joining with Watsa and Chen to try and save Blackberry.

True, Yesu had talent, but nothing can save Blackberry. They are dying at their own hands. When companies focus on the present and never look at the future, they never get to the future. 

 

Blackberry is like the Titanic.

 

Blackberry may survive by doing this.

 

1, Blackberry has to get out of the smart phone market.  It is an unstable market that can change on a dime like the fashion industry.  They could maintain niche areas in the market like their high end cell phones designed by Porche. But get out of the rest of the market.

 

2.  Blackberry should focus on software development (That is where Yesu could have played an important part if he was younger by recruiting good talent for the company in this area).

 

3. Blackberry should focus on licensing their patents and also protect their patents. 

 

4.  They should also focus on making products for the Canadian Military Sector and related sectors.  Their encryption technology is very good and they should continue to develop it.
