The Canadian-born actress starred alongside Sean Connery in the first James Bond movie, "Dr. No," in 1962 as the secretary to M, the head of the secret service.

007's Mrs. Moneypenny, Lois Maxwell dies


Lois Maxwell, born Lois Hooker died on September 29th, 2007. She was 80 years old.

Maxwell played Moneypenny in 14 James Bond films between 1962 and 1985. Born in Canada in 1927, Maxwell also played roles in Stanley Kubrik's Lolita in 1962 and on several TV shows including The Saint, The Baron, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and The Persuaders! Her last film was 2001's "The Fourth Angel" with Jeremy Irons.

She moved to Australia in 2002 after being diagnosed with cancer to be closer to her two children who survive her, her son Christian and her daughter Melinda.
