1. Babita

The ever-so graceful and gorgeous actress from the past, Babita left films soon after she tied the knot with Randhir Kapoor. Apparently, the Kapoors didn’t want their daughters-in-law to work in Bollywood. A Kapoor lady was not seen (read allowed) onscreen back in the day. However, Babita’s daughters, Karisma and Kareena, went on to rule the industry.

2. Nargis Dutt

After storming the silver screen with her powerful portrayals in films like Mother India, Nargis got married to co-star Sunil Dutt. The actress didn’t sign any film after that, as she wanted to look after her house, husband and kids.

3. Saira Banu

At the tender age of 22, the charming Saira Banu married the much older superstar, Dilip Kumar. And we never got to see her in a film post that.

4. Mandakini

Popular for her strong and bold roles in films like Ram Teri Ganga Maili, the light-eyed yesteryear diva left acting after she got married in 1990.

5. Twinkle Khanna

Also famous as Mrs. Funnybones currently, Twinkle did some films but failed to strike a chord. She then went on to marry superstar, Akshay Kumar, and quit acting.

6. Sonali Bendre

After she tied the knot with the director, Goldie Behl, in 2002, Sonali bid goodbye to films. She may have done cameo roles in few films, but the lady has kept away from doing a leading role. She, however, has been seen on TV.

7. Bhagyashree

The Maine Pyaar Kiya sizzler, Bhagyashree took us by complete surprise with her girl-next-door role of Suman, cast opposite the young Salman Khan. Soon after, instead of cashing in on her success, the girl got married and left the industry. She recently did a TV show though.

8. Meenakshi Sheshadri

The beautiful yesteryear actress was a rage in her heydays, especially after her power-packed roles in films like Hero, Damini and Ghayal. But she quit movies after she went the family way.

10. Namrata Shirodkar

She worked in films for about six years before settling down with the Telugu star, Mahesh Babu, in 2005. Namrata quit acting as she took up family responsibilities.
