2016 Report Card: The Top Controversies That Rocked TV Industry This Year!

The entire country went to a shock when we learnt that Balika Vadhu actress Pratusha Banerjee had killed herself by hanging from a fan! With the parents blaming boyfriend Rahul Raj and vice versa, and reports of Pratyusha being pregnant at the time of her death only worsened this! The case and investigation is still going on.

Shilpa Shinde's exit from Bhabiji Ghar Pe Hai

Being one of the most popular characters that we loved seeing on screen, Shilpa's exit was shocking. While she said that she left because she did not want to site any 'exclusive contract' with the producers, the production channel claimed that the actress breached the contract and threw tantrums on set!

Kapil Sharma VS Colors channel

At first it was money issues. But then it became an ugly war when Kapil found its rival show, Comedy Nights Bachao being aired on the same channel. Kapil withdrew his show from the channel, and was readily welcomed by Sony.

Kapil Sharma and the BMC controversy

Kapil Sharma had tweeted about the BMC officials asking for a bribe of 5 lakh for the construction of his office in Versova. The tweet backfired and BMC issued a statement saying that the comedian indulged in illegal construction!

It started with Parched actress Tannistha Chatterjee claiming that the 'roasters' of the show could find nothing to roast her about but her dark skin color. The furious actress left the show. A few days later John Abraham also left the show because he felt insulted!

When Ratan Rajput was molested on the sets of Santoshi Ma

He was later fired.

When comedian Rehman Khan was arrested for rape charges

The comedian, who appeared in shows like Mad In India, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and Comedy Circus, was arrested after a 30 year old filed a rape charge against him.

She said she befriended him on social media and also took 2 lakh from her.

When she asked it back, she claimed that she was raped inside a hotel and a clip was also made which was used to blackmail her!
