Love her or hate her, you can’t ignore the fact that Sonam Kapoor is a star who does not fall under the bracket of conventional. From admitting that her fashion choices are a way of hiding her insecurities to admitting to the thousand procedures that go into making actresses look flawless, she somehow comes across as an actress who acknowledges her privileges, another rare quality in Bollywood stars. Her statements might land her up in foot in the mouth situations, but you have to admit that her candidness is so much better than the measured and diplomatic responses that actresses are known for.

Before Nawazuddin Siddique happened to Bollywood nobody would have believed that somebody with his background could actually make a name for himself in the big bad world of Bollywood. Without conventional ‘hero’ looks, he is perhaps the pioneer in making a star out of brilliant actors, a trend that was not so popular in Bollywood before. But even after all the success, his interviews and media interactions shows a man who is thankful for what he has achieved but never forgets his roots.

The fact that she is one of the finest actresses we have today is no secret, but apart from being a legit Bollywood star she is so much more. She is a poet, a sketch artistand an avid theatre performer. From openly talking about casting couches or admitting to being a victim of child sexual abuse to standing up for various social causes, Kalki truly is one Bollywood star with a difference. We can barely think of any other Bollywood celebrity candidly accepting driving a generic car and living in a rented apartment.

The woman has the rare ability to stand her ground whether it’s the Hrithik Roshan controversy, nepotism debate or the pay disparity debate, she makes her statements bold and clear. Although one might not agree with her antics every single time, she is one celebrity who has changed the way the world is accustomed to seeing Bollywood heroines.
