List of Winners of 58th Idea Filmfare Awards 2012

Sujoy Ghosh’s “Kahaani” and Anurag Basu’s “Barfi” struck big at the Filmfare Awards this year. “Barfi” was adjudged best film and got Ranbir Kapoor the ‘best actor (male)’ award while Vidya Balan bagged the ‘best actor (female)’ title for “Kahaani” that also won Sujoy Ghosh the best director prize.

The Filmfare Awards held Sunday were a star-studded experience. Amongst those attending the awards ceremony were Madhuri Dixit, Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Sidharth Roy Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Boney Kapoor, Sridevi, Sonali Bendre, Goldie Behl, Deepika Padukone and Rekha.

The lifetime achievement award went to late director Yash Chopra who passed away in October last year. Anushka Sharma won the ‘best actor in a supporting role (female)’ award for her role in “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”, while lyricist Gulzar bagged the award for ‘best lyrics’ for the song “Challa” from the film.

The ‘best debut director’ award was bagged by Gauri Shinde for her film “English Vinglish”, while Ayushmann Khurrana won the ‘best debut (male)’ for his film “Vicky Donor” and Ileana D’cruz won the ‘best debut (female)’ for her film “Barfi”

The ‘best actor female (critics)’ was won by Richa Chaddha for “Gangs Of Wasseypur” and the ‘best actor male (critics)’ was given to Irrfan Khan for “Paan Singh Tomar”. “Gangs of Wasseypur” also bagged the award for ‘best film (critics)’.

It was Ranbir Kapoor's Barfi! and Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani that led the awards night bagging maximum Filmfare awards.

These two unusual films - Anurag Basu's directorial venture Barfi!, Sujoy Ghosh directed Kahaani - and John Abraham's maiden home production film Vicky Donor won not only the hearts of the audience but awards as well at the 58th Filmfare awards that were held at the Yash Raj Films studio in Andheri in suburban Mumbai.

Ranbir Kapoor won yet another Best Actor award at Filmfare for Barfi!, the Best Film award was also given to Barfi!. Best Debut Award (Female) was bagged by Ileana D'cruz for the same movie.

The Best Background Score and Best Music Director awards went to Pritam for Barfi!, and award for Best Production Design went to Rajat Podar for the same film.

Vidya Balan continued her winning spree in the Best Actress category with Filmfare Best Actress award for Kahaani.

Best Director award was handed over to Sujoy Ghosh, while Best Sound Design award went to Sanjay Maurya and Allwin Rego for Kahaani.

Two major awards for Kahaani came from Namrata Rao bagging the Best Editing title and Sethu winning Best Cinematography.

In the Best Actor Supporting Role (Male) category, the award went to Annu Kapoor for his portrayal of Dr Chaddha in Vicky Donor. Writer of the film Juhi Chaturvedi earned the Best Story award.

Ayushmann Khurrana, who made his acting debut in the movie, won two awards - Best Debut (Male) and Best Playback Singer (Male) for the song Paani Da.

Anushka Sharma won Best Actor in Supporting Role (Female) award for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, while Gulzar won the Best Lyrics award for Challa from Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Filmfare award for the Best Debut Director was bagged by Gauri Shinde for English Vinglish.

Filmfare Award for Best Action went to Sham Kaushal for Gangs of Wasseypur and Best Choreography to Bosco-Caesar for the super fun song Aunty Ji from Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.

Neeti Mohan won the RD Burman Award, while the Lifetime Achievement Award went to late filmmaker Yash Chopra.

Madhuri Dixit Nene presented the award to the late filmmaker's wife, Pamela Chopra. Madhuri worked with Yash Chopra in Dil Toh Pagal Hai, which was amongst the most successful films of her career.

Yash Chopra passed away just weeks before the release of his last film Jab Tak Hai Jaan last year. The film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma turned out to be a big hit.

Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor Male was given to Irrfan Khan for Paan Singh Tomar and Richa Chaddha won the same award in female category for Gangs of Wasseypur. Best Film in this category was won by Gangs of Wasseypur.

Celebrities added glitz and glamour as they walked the red carpet.

Dressed in her traditional golden-red sari, Rekha walked the red carpet with grace. Madhuri Dixit arrived with her husband Sriram Nene in a black color dress, while Parineeti Chopra too looked glamorous in a black outfit.

Others who came include Vidya Balan, Gauri Shinde with husband R Balki, Karan Johar, Irrfan Khan, Soojit Sircar, Chitrangada Singh, R Madhavan, Manoj Bajpayee, Kunal Kohli, Sonali Bendre with Goldie Behl, Yami Gautam, Ayushmaan Khurrana and David Dhawan.
