6 Reasons Why Lage Raho Munna Bhai Cheers Your Mood Every Time You Watch It!

Martini Shots, Bollywood, September 01, 2016, Authors:  Yatharth Chauhan (Editorial Team), http://www.desimartini.com/new...lan/article36692.htm

I’m yet to meet a person who has seen Rajkumar Hirani’s second directorial outing Lage Raho Munna Bhai and hasn’t liked it.

The league this gem of a cinematic experience falls in is one of its kinds.

How often do we come across a movie that has this inherent ability to not disappoint you no matter what mood you’re in while watching it? A handful maybe!

As it turns out, one of the most loved chapters to come out of Bollywood, the Gandhigiri driven Lage Raho Munna Bhai has completed a decade. Yes, 10 long years of Lage Raho Munna Bhai!

From its effortless ability to make you laugh along with the strong social message it carries, the film passes almost all litmus tests it gets under.

From high pitched humor to subtle and mesmerizing romance, from the evil vs good contest to the socially moving elements, the film stands tall on all fronts you want to analyze it from.

Gandhigiri

6 Reasons Why Lage Raho Munna Bhai Cheers Your Mood Every Time You Watch It!

Not many could have believed that Mahatma Gandhi would himself show up as a close associate of a Mumbai gangster called Munna Bhai. With Hirani having translated this bizarre idea into a very effective screenplay, Gandhigiri became like an overnight viral theory. A theory started being practiced in real as well! The whole idea around Gandhigiri was so beautifully executed that it even enticed the section of audience who would otherwise have reservations about the theory. Munna Bhai seeking life lessons from no one else but Gandhiji himself, not just made us go ROFL but also sort of became inspiring.

The Munna-Circuit Chapter – Part 2

Not only was the ‘Munna-Circuit’ lovely chemistry was an extension of what we are offered in Munna Bhai MBBS, it went one step ahead in all prospects. Remember the scene where Munna apologizes to Circuit after having slapped him? It brought tears in your eyes, didn’t it? On the grounds of comedy where the two apparently share a divine rapport, they were outstanding to say the least. We don’t think we can ever get enough of the Munna-Circuit chemistry in anyway.

The Romance

While Munna Bhai MBBS was more on the subjective lines of profession, righteousness and self-belief, Lage Raho explored the romantic side of the gangster as well. Since we had the likes of Vidya Balan who without a doubt was highly impressive throughout, the film was virtually set on a romantic backdrop. The scene that introduces Munna features him sitting on the side of the ocean lost in the voice of his favorite radio jockey Vidya Balan. From there on, everything he does is with the focus of love and that’s what drives the story ahead.

Sanjay Dutt aka Munna Bhai

6 Reasons Why Lage Raho Munna Bhai Cheers Your Mood Every Time You Watch It!

It’s a treat when someone like a Sanjay Dutt gets to be at the helm of affairs in a film that offers him his best of spaces. As a gangster with a comic timing, not only was he remarkably impressive but also enticing in all prospects. Sanjay Dutt was all over the film and his painted imagination of love, friendship and Gandhigiri was something that made the film stand tall to its name. While he very effectively brings out his emotions on screen on occasions when he is vulnerable, nothing in the world can take his comic timing away from him. Lage Raho Munna Bhai belongs to Sanjay Dutt in all respects.

While Lage Raho Munna Bhai largely belonged to Sanjay Dutt as the lead, you can’t help but ignore what the brilliant contribution pitched in by others. While Arshad as Circuit and Vidya as Jhanvi give enough depth to the characters they portray, Boman Irani as the negative lead as Lucky Singh was fabulous to say the least. The worthy contributions that came from actors like Saurabh Shukla, Dia Mirza and Jimmy Shergill cannot be overlooked in any given condition.

Here are the top five one liners from the film that will make you remember it even more:

Apun Ne 115 Ghar Khali Karwaya, 52 Kidnapping Kiyela Hai, Kum se Kum 250 Haddi Toh Todela Rahenga, Par Kabhi Andar Nahi Aaya.. Pehli Baar Kisi Ko Sorry Bola – Direct Andar!
