The standard of healthcare in Guyana is very poor. Care for Seniors is nonexistent. Emergency surgery and specialist medical treatment are sparsely available.
Guyana is not safe for expats. Crime levels in the country are high and it suffers from a lack of policing. Murder and armed robbery are an issue and muggings and burglaries take place in broad daylight.
There is still political instability and inter-ethnic tension.
Guyana is still a cash country. The paper work needed to open an account is not easy. Most expats use their home accounts or an offshore account. Be careful of the Choke & Robbers waiting for you when you leave the banks.
