Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was emotional while recounting moments spent with critically acclaimed actress, Smita Patil!
Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan joined Shabana Azmi and illustrious director Shyam Benegal to launch memoir, Smita Patil: A Brief Incandescence, timed to coincide with Smita Patil’s 60th birth anniversary on Saturday (October 17). This book is penned down by Maithili Rao.
While speaking about the late actress Smita Patil, he said fondly, “I always fall short of words when asked to speak of Smita.” Smita, apart from being a legendary actress was also a pathbreaker of sorts. She is known for her intense performances in numerous Hindi and Marathi films. She was an actor’s actor and was known for her hreatbreakingly beautiful performances in Maandi, Arth and Bazaar.
Maithili Rao thanked Patil’s family and friends for their generosity with their time and memories of the actor. Never having met the actor when she was alive, Rao said that writing the book was a journey of getting to know her.
Celebrated director Shyam Benegal lauded Smita’s ability to blossom in front of camera.
Smita Patil’s family and friends were present at the do. Sister Anita Patil Deshmukh, her nephew Adeetya Deshmukh and son, Prateik Babbar, were also present.
