Albert Baldeo

NEW YORK (AP) — A former Queens Democratic district leader and City Council candidate has been convicted of federal charges.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara says Albert Baldeo was convicted Monday on seven counts of obstruction of justice.

He was acquitted of three fraud-related counts related to claims for city matching funds which were never awarded.

Prosecutors said Baldeo lied and instructed others to lie about the source of his campaign contributions. They say he also used threats and intimidation.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 16. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

I do not care for the Baldeo brothers. They did not have much moral tutelage on their mothers knees. Both were bent on riches and not of good works. Both are are getting their due.

Everyone needs a second chance in life. Baldeo will repay his debt to society for his wrong doing by serving time in jail. Jail wasn't made for dog and cats.

Lawyers are not stupid. They think they know the law that much that they can get away with anything. Baldeo is not the only one. We have a string of businessmen and attorneys serving time in jail. Well, I have to wonder if they're actually stupid or money hungry.

At the back of mind and with my soft heart I feel bad for Baldeo but having siad that he is wutliss!!

He went out of his way, with lies and disrupted a decent fellow, attorney at law, Mahedra Ramgopal life. Mahendra nearly lost his licenses to practise however God is great. Vishnu Mahadeo kwows what I am speaking about because Mahendra was one of the few people who stood by Vishnu's side during the hair cutting episode.

Look Bhai Chief, What Ed did is being done in the Investment and Real Estate Business daily. Normally, a fine and other penalties would have been enough. Stormy, Dat is not true. Some people lost financially because they were greedy, others would not have own Properties in NY if not for Ed. WE must be FAIR.  I agree he broke Rules BUT let us be FAIR in the matter.

This is what has had me worried from the start. There must have been, and no doubt still exists, a Guyanese "omerta" scam in place. In Guyana everyone knows everybody's business. And there is no reason to believe that it is any different in the Guyanese communities in the US and Canada.
