From director Apoorva Lakhia comes Shootout At Lokhandwala, a shocking, hypnotic look at a real-life disaster.
Based on the shootout in Lokhhandwala 1992, when commissioner of police, Aftaab Ahmed Khan, shot Dawood Ibrahim's aides including Maya Dolas and Dilip Bua. This caused massive controversy after it was rumoured that Dawood asked for the shootings to take revenge on his aides who has fallen out with him. Khan wrote a book Surrender and had one chapter on this. It explores the personal obsessions and sacrifices of the two protagonists with absorbing insight, with some of the most riveting action sequences to be ever filmed.
The ambitious venture of Lakhia has been co-produced by Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms.

The film got some critical comments regarding its centralisation of narrative at Mumbai, though Apoorva is certain that his movie based on the real-life incident will be a hit. The movie has some of the biggest stars in the industry. Meanwhile, Lakhia is all pepped up about his project." Believe me, it wasn't tough! Abhishek and I have a pact that he'd star in every film I make and the pact has now extended to Mr. Bachchan too. Sanju is a friend plus the producer and Suniel too is a buddy. But, I admit, I did have problems casting guys on the ˜other side of the law', namely Vivek Oberoi and Tusshar. Tusshar hadn't portrayed a negative character and was apprehensive initially. Vivek too didn't want to portray something he had attempted earlier, in COMPANY," Lakhia reveals. Suresh Nair has written the script along with inputs from Lakhia and Gupta.

After being noticed in films like Awara Paagal Deewana and Shaadi No.1, actress Aarti Chhabria will be seen portraying the famous bar dancer Tarannum in Sanjay Gupta's Shootout At Lokhandwala. This came as a surprise to Aarti because just few months back, she had read about Tarannum in newspapers. The role definitely was challenging, as bar dancer Tarannum's case has been in news for quite sometime and is still fresh in people's minds. However, she gives the credit to director Apoorva Lakhia. Aarti says that he managed to extract a good performance from her.

Shootout At Lokhandawala has a huge starcast which includes Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi, Abhishek Bachchan and Tusshar Kapoor among others.

The film has Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sunil Shetty and Arbaaz Khan playing cops. Abhishek plays the cop who triggers off the whole incident. Interestingly, the film doesn't have Amitabh and Abhishek sharing the screen space.

Sanjay Dutt's character is pivotal to the plot. ACP Khan is depicted as a relentless cop who showed immense guts to engage the trigger-happy gangsters for hours. The irony is that Khan later faced inquisition from his own department. He was also charged for violation of human rights during the encounter.

She plays Mita Matu, an earthy, refined and aggressive reporter in SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA and a teacher in a blind school in ALIBAG, reports the tabloid. RAMU'S 'NISHABD' IS JUST DIFFERENT

Ram Gopal Verma has made a number of movies in his film factory on varied subjects, but this is the movie that is being widely talked about in industry circles. This time he has introduced a novel subject in his forthcoming venture titled 'Nishabd'. Here, Ramu presents a unique story of love between two persons belonging to just two different age groups. He tries to depict that love is beyond the borders of age and physical pleasures. This can happen between persons who are as aged as a father and his daughter. So, the romance between them isn't physical; this is farther from it, call it by any name, spiritual or divine.

Ramu has depicted two characters ; one played by none other than our super actor Amitabh Bachchan who is 64 year-old but he is in love with Zia Khan who is 18 only. This is unlikely in Indian tradition though. However, such cases can be easily traced in the west. This isn't the first movie of Bollywood in this respect. We have witnessed love between two different age groups in Subhash Ghai's 'Jogger's Park' besides 'Dil Chahta Hai' and 'Leela'. However, 'Nishabd' is based on famous writer Vladimore Novokov's novel titled 'Lolita'. The movie is likely to release soon and then it will reveal its acceptability or otherwise by Indian viewers. But, Verma has certainly touched a new theme of love that nourishes between two persons, irrespective of their age and beyond physical pleasures.

Ray, this one is not for you Big Grin

Ram Gopal Verma, the self proclaimed king of inspirational lifts, makes one of the boldest attempt of his career by venturing into the old man-young girl love story in 'Nishabd'. Big B adds one more dimension to his stardom by playing obsessed old man opposite teenager Jiah Khan. The film is expected to be based on the literary work of Russian novelist Vladmir Nabokov's "Lolita". 'Nishabd' meaning "speechless" or "wordless" has been shot in record time with supporting star cast of Revathy, Shradha and Aftab Shivdasani. RGV's films were better known for its daunting background score with exceptions of musicals like 'Rangeela', 'Daud' and 'Mast'. 'Nishabd' comes out as surprise package from him as actors sing their emotions impressively with melodious beats and music. The album is one of the shortest possible musical presentations in Bollywood with just two original soundtracks. RGV along with leading Bollywood music company T-Series accommodates with ten bonus soundtracks from Big B's recent movies. The bonus tracks includes the deleted song (in the CD) "Kehta Hai Babul" ('Babul') and his other spicy entertaining numbers like "Chali Chali", "Main Yahan Tu Wahan", "Meri Makhna Meri Sohniya" ('Baghban'), "Come on" ('Babul'), "Yeh Kya Ho Raha Ha" ('Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin'), "Kabhi Nae" (pop album "Tera Chehra"), "Chhod Na Re" ('Kaante') and "Miraksam" ('Waqt-the race against time'). The musical package of Amitabh Bachchan's recently sung along with the original soundtracks of 'Nishabd' can be heard on T-Series cassettes and CD's.

Will look at the music later:

Nishabd music review

Rozanna is a killer tracker.. didnt realize that Jiah sings as well..this is probably a first for a hindi film(both the lead actors singing complete songs)

Finally it's time for the world to witness the high voltage sensual drama that Ram Gopal Verma has made possible with Nishabd. For around a year there have been newsbytes in dozens about how RGV planned to aesthetically portray the love story of a 60 year old man [Amitabh Bachchan] and a 18 year old girl [Jiah Khan]. Now it should be a matter of weeks before one sees the events unfolding on the big screen. But before that the two lead actors sing a song apiece in this unique album that has just two tracks - ˜Rozana' and ˜Take Lite'.

Brilliant. That's the word which is apt to describe the feel of ˜Rozana', a song taken to great heights due to 4 men involved with it. They are composer Vishal Bhardwaj, singer Amitabh Bachchan, lyricist Munna Dhiman and last but not the least film maker Ram Gopal Verma who dares yet again to give a go-ahead to a song like this that breaks the norm.

Write your own music review of Nishabd
Beginning in a manner where Big B is almost inaudible for almost half a minute, ˜Rozana' takes multiple routes throughout its duration. From being extremely low key to taking medium notes and then escalating to an all time high - the song has Vishal Bhardwaj stamp all over it. A love ballad about a man deeply in love with a woman, it could as well be called the best ever by Bachchan as a singer. In fact it won't be wrong to say that is there is a song that can be counted in the same league as ˜Neela Aasmaan So Gaya' [Silsila], it is ˜Rozana'. A must hear!

"This one has a potential to be one eye pleasing number" - this is what ends up exclaiming on the very first hearing of ˜Take Lite'. Powered by some heavy orchestra and an overall western theme, ˜Take Lite' has some thumping feel to it that you witness time and again in downtown discotheque tracks. A Hinglish number by Farhad Sajid that is a mix of Western, Turkish, Middle East and our own Bollywood flavor to it, this Amar Mohile composition should rock on screen if RGV goes all out on glamour quotient with some fast paced editing and camera cuts taking care of the rest.

And now let's talk about Jiah Khan who has sung ˜Take Lite'. If one has to pick and choose some of the better actors who have come behind the mike to croon a number, Jiah would certainly be a front runner. In fact it is difficult to ascertain if she is an actor who has turned to singing or is it other way around! She surprises with the hold that she has behind her voice and gives a good account of a female who knows her strengths as singer!

Even though there are just two tracks in the album, Nishabd makes a worthy hear. Both ˜Rozana' and ˜Take Lite' are extremely worthy hears and actually end up defining the character graphs of the two lead protagonists in the film. The numbers are bound to go down very well with the narrative and if RGV too has put his heart and soul in this project just as his music team has, Nishabd as a film could well turn out to be a surprise success of the season!
