Its impossible now to get a shot of the Taj without hundreds of tourists milling around in the background. That pic was about taken around 68. VJ was in India earlier with the Britsh army under UN mandate after some India / Pakistan skirmishes.
I may be mistaken, but the color scheme indicates that he probably used Agfacolor film and processed it at Acme Photo Studio in Georgetown. The back of the prints should tell.

Told you so. Acme Photo Studio was the local agent/distributor of West German-made Agfa film and photographic equipment. I bought my first Agfa camera from Acme and used a lot of Agfa film, which I preferred to Kodak in those days.

Was Victor Gangadin the man who formed a political party to fight the 1992 elections in Guyana.
No, Alexander. Victor died in the early 1970s.
Hi Everyone,
I am the late Victor Gangadin's Grandson and I just want to say thank you for all the kind words, I have heard and still hear of many many instances of kindness and acomplishments that my Grandfather had done over his lifetime. Just to set the record straight he passed away in 1980 and he did not move to Canada, but He did work at the U.N. in New York for a period of time and was stationed in New York. He was also the Commissioner of Inland Revenue in Guyana and later resigned from that post and started his own business as kwaku had stated. I have heard many inspiring stories about my grandfather and I just want to say thank you for making his memory live on.
Hi welcome Steve.
thanks cain
Hi Steve, I used to love hearing Victor playing the harmonica accompanied by his friend Sonny Deen on tassa or drums. Unfortunately he always had a few bottles of XM in his car trunk.
Hi Sunil,
you just put a smile on my face, and yes that xm bottle used to find it's way in many places....lol
Welcome, Steve
Nice pictures and memories indeed

Hi Steve, I worked with your grandfather. He was a great coach and tutor. He was liked and respected by all at Inland Revenue. We had some very memorable times after work; yes he did like his XM. I certainly benefited from his accounting skills and his knowledge of the income tax act.
