See Bharat jewelry, 3 posts up. The Indians continue to bear the brunt of PNC fund raising activities.
This trend of Indos being robbed, brutalized and murdered just because they are Indos is a reminder of PNC part One.
This administration is taking Guyana to destruction with their corruption, theft and wholesale racist attitude and policy towards Indos. It will only get worse.
Those who supported the AFC will live to regret because of their mistakes. Moses is now a piece of trash for Granger. Trotwman was recently chosen over Moses to chair an investigation. This speaks volumes of what Granger thinks of Indos in the PNC.
More is yet to come. Indos who are smart enough should leave now. It will become dog eat dog under the PNC crooks.

DEVANAND Sanichar, 13, of Plantain Walk, Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was reportedly chopped and beaten to death by a group of men following an argument at a âwedding houseâ in the village on Sunday night. The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 23:30hrs at the Plantain Walk Access Road, in Triumph, not far away from where the lad lived.
According to the police, Sanichar, who was at a function in the village, had earlier had an altercation with some men over a girl. He reportedly left the function and returned with a cutlass, whereupon the argument continued.
Reports are that one of the persons with whom he had the argument took the cutlass away from the teen and dealt him a chop to his head; and that whilst on the ground, he was given a severe beating with a stick.
The Guyana Chronicle has learnt that three persons are in custody, assisting with the investigation but the primary suspect is currently on the run.
11 HOUSES AWAY
Mother of the deceased, Sookdai Sanichar told this newspaper that she, along with other relatives and her son, were at a wedding some 11 houses away from theirs, when at around 23:00h, she saw him leave.
Reports are that the teen had been drinking beers before he left the âwedding houseâ with a friend who frequented their home.
The grieving mother of four said that within 15 minutes of his leaving, she was informed that he was lying lifeless on the street.
She said she immediately left the wedding and went to verify what she had been told, and upon arrival, found that he was indeed lying in a pool of blood on the street, with a gaping chop wound to his head.
According to the woman, her sonâs body bore other marks of violence.
She said it was based on the information given the police by another teen, who reportedly saw what happened, that three persons are now in custody.
The teenager reportedly saw a group of men, all of whom reside in Beterverwagting, chopping Sanichar as he attempted to defend himself with a piece of wood. It is believed that while the teenager was attacked by five men, the prime suspect is still at large.
NEW TO COMMUNITY
And according to sources, he not only recently moved to the community and befriended the teenager, but would invite him out from time to time.
âI need justice for my son,â the ladâs mother said, âbecause he was a good person. He didnât drink a lot, didnât tâief nor smoke; and whoever killed him should face the full force of the law.â
As she told the Guyana Chronicle, Devanand, who was her âfirst-bornâ, attended Lusignan Secondary, but due to circumstances, she was forced to take him out of school.
His father, meanwhile, said he was not around when the incident occurred, and is at a loss as to why anyone would want to kill his son.
The teen would have turned 14 on September 23.

AFTER his left hand was severed at the wrist, eyewitnesses say, Ashton Simon fled the scene, leaving it behind, fluttering on the ground where it fell, silver ring still intact. The 42-year-old father of five, of Sheet Anchor, East Canje, was amongst three persons who went to âMai Mai Damâ, a squatting area on the eastern fringes of the township of New Amsterdam, on Sunday afternoon ostensibly to settle an old score. According to eyewitnesses, Simon was the first to mount the stairs of the home of the Gildaries, the family with whom he and his two friends had a misunderstanding.
It was around 17:30hrs, they said, and Rohit Gildarie was seated on the front stairs having a meal, when Simon, along with Valas Mootee Boodie and Jason Wilson exited a motorcar driven by one AndrÃĐ Lewis of Palmyra Village.
QUICK AS A FLASH
Reports are that it was Simon who pointed a gun at Rohitâs neck, when, quick as a flash, one of the latterâs siblings, who was armed with a cutlass, fired a chop, severing Simonâs left hand, which was in an upraised position in the vicinity of his neck. He also sustained other injuries about the body.
His two companions meanhile, who had accused the Gildharies of being police informers, were also dealt several chops during the melee, which saw curious neighbours and passersby flocking the scene to get a first-hand glimpse of the incident.
Wilson lost his left ear, and suffered lacerations to his back and chest, while Boodie, a fisherman, was chopped in the region of his right side rib.
All three men remain patients in the male surgical ward at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
NO BUSINESS
During a visit to their home late yesterday, Simonâs relatives were overheard quarreling, saying that he had no right to be in other peopleâs business.
âI keep talking to he, but he does not hear. He got five children, and one on the way. He keep following people and their nonsense. Now he lost he hand; dis boy nah ah hear,â said a woman who said she was his cousin.
Meanwhile, Boodie, aged 25, denied either of them having a gun in their possession. He however opted to remain silent when asked the reason for he and his friends being in the area.
Eyewitnesses said that after the cutlass attack, the men fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of blood and Simonâs wrist, which a plain-clothes detective subsequently took away.
A father and two sons have since been arrested, and are assisting police with their investigations .

â elderly couple fearful after suffering similar fate
Police on the West Coast of Demerara are investigating two daring robberies that have left business
-oriented families not only traumatised, but contemplating the future of their income-earning endeavours.
In fact, a victim of one of the robberies, Khemraj Persaud, is currently counting his lucky stars that he is still alive to talk about the ordeal. The 49-year-old man, during an interview with this publication, revealed that one of the two armed bandits who invaded his home yesterday morning fired a bullet that missed his head by mere inches.
âI felt this thing pass me and I couldnât believe was a bullet pass me head like thatâĶI coulda lose my life this (yesterday) morning,â Persaud reflected.
Persaud, who operates a small supermarket called âVincentâ, at 100 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara, disclosed that the business, which is situated in the bottom-flat of his two-storey home, has been in his wifeâs family for a number of years.
This is not the first time that the business has been the target of bandits. But the incident yesterday, he recalled, was particularly traumatic.
âThis is the third time we get robbed, but this is the first time for this year,â related Persaud.
He recounted that he opened his business place around 06:00 hours yesterday and had gone into a kitchen situated at the back of the shop to squeeze oranges and feed his bird. But what he wasnât aware of was that someone had trailed him into the kitchen.
Persaud said that he only realised he had company when he was struck behind his head and instructed to lie on the ground. After instinctively turning around to see who had hit him, Persaud said that he complied with the intruder. âHe had this small gun in he hand, and is this gun he use to hit me in my head,â said Persaud of his attacker.
Almost immediately, another gun-toting man appeared in the kitchen, Persaud said, and ordered him not to holler, after which he started to make demands for money.
âI tell them the money in the shop, and they run into the shop and grab up all the money there (in a drawer),â Persaud disclosed. But this was not before one of the unmasked men fired a shot at Persaud who was still in a lying position.
The man said that after the shot rang out and the men left to secure the money, he used another exit and ran out of his yard. From a safe location he saw the men checking their weapons and shortly after a car picked them up.
Police ranks who arrived on the scene were furnished with a description of the vehicle and its registration plate, although it is suspected that the latter might be false. Persaud said the police also removed a spent shell from his premises.
According to Persaud, the incident has left his entire family traumatised, including his wife and children. âWe were thinking to expand our business, but this thing just scare me so much I thinking about putting a for sale sign,â Persaud added.
YET ANOTHER BUSINESS
And Persaudâs family was not the only one to suffer at the hands of bandits over the weekend. The night before, another business place at Lot 4, Nouvelle Flanders Village (Crane), West Coast Demerara was robbed.
The business place is operated by an elderly couple, Lennox and Verna Albert. They are both 69 years old.
Speaking to this publication yesterday, the woman said that she and her husband were about to close their shop around 20:00 hours Sunday when their premises was invaded.
She explained that her husband had just closed the gate that leads to their shop and was about to secure a shed when two young men scaled their gate and held her husband up at gunpoint.
The woman said that the men, one with a long gun and the other with a short gun, took away her husbandâs licenced firearm and forced both of them (she and her husband) into their home where they ransacked all the rooms.
âThey kept asking âWhere is the gold? Where is the money?â They said they wanted everything. These were good looking boys, but they were rough,â recounted Verna Albert. In addition to relieving them of more than $500,000 in cash, the woman said that the men also carted off colognes, male underwear, a cellular phone as well as a gold ring â the only jewellery Mrs. Albert had.
The couple is troubled about the loss of the firearm since, according to the woman, âwe waited five years to get this gun licence and just like that, the firearm gone.â
According to Mrs. Albert, over the number of years she and her husband operated their business they have been robbed multiple times, and therefore her husband had applied for a firearm licence.
Police in a statement indicated that Lennox Albert was relieved of a .32 pistol with five rounds of ammunition.
The couple is hoping that with the evident threat to their livelihood that they will be given permission to obtain another firearm

Twenty-four year-old Shieldstown, West Bank Berbice resident Shazam Khalil, the man who was on
trial for the January 2015 murder of his girlfriend, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Khalil stood before Justice Jo Ann Barlow and a Mixed Jury in the Berbice High Court. He was found guilty of murdering Shazina Mohamed, 19, of Edinburgh Housing Scheme East Bank Berbice. The woman was brutally stabbed about her body around 19:00 hrs on Saturday January 17, 2015 outside the Yang Yi Chinese Restaurant in Rosignol, West Bank Berbice.
Khalil was given the sentence following a probation report which was read by Probation and Social Service Officer Adessia Semple.
Attorney at law Stacy Goodings had told the court that the woman was ambushed and stabbed by the accused who then fled the scene.
Mohamed was picked up and rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital from where she was subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where she succumbed.
The attorney had related that Mohamed was at the restaurant with two friends when the incident occurred. She had journeyed to Rosignol to collect a phone and decided to go to the Restaurant with her friends to eat some food when she was attacked by the suspect.
During the trial, the prosecution had called a number of witnesses, including their two main witnesses who were on the scene when the incident occurred.
Vishwa Sukhdeo had stated that he and the now dead woman had shared a casual relationship. He had bought food for his sister who was in the restaurant eating, while he and Mohamed were outside talking. He had just left Mohamed and gone to his sister when he heard Mohamed scream. Upon looking around he saw Khalil hugging Mohamed and apparently cuffing her. He shouted at the man who looked at him before releasing Mohamed and darting from the scene.
The young woman was bleeding profusely. She subsequently collapsed. Sukhdeo assisted in taking her to both hospitals.
Latchmi Sukhdeo had testified that on the day in question she accompanied her brother to the Ritz Mall at Rosignol to unlock a cell phone. They subsequently met Shazina Mohamed and after a while they walked to the Restaurant where her brother bought some food. Subsequently Shazina was attacked by the accused.
State Prosecutor Attorney at Law Stacy Goodings had urged the jury to believe the stateâs case which had two eyewitness and the doctorâs testimony.
Defence attorney Tajenarine Ramroop in his presentation pointed to some inconsistencies in the prosecutionâs case and urged the jury to believe the defenceâs case of self-defence and accident.
Justice Barlow had subsequently summed up the evidence to the jury and directed the panel on the law. A probation reported was then asked for. The judge had then granted the request. Attorney Ramroop had told the court that his client was just 24 years old, he is not married, has no children and lives with his parents. It was the first time he was charged for any offence of any sort.
The probation report had outlined that Khalil was the product of poor upbringing. He was the second of 10 children. He left school at the age of nine to seek employment. The home environment was rundown and was described as a one-flat dilapidated building with a makeshift kitchen. The toilet facilities were situated outside.
The house lacked the basic amenities and the home environment seemed to be overcrowded, with no privacy. There was no electricity. They used gas lamps and candles to light the house.
The relationship with Shazina Mohamed was his third. His first companion took her own life while the relationship with the second ended after her parents disapproved of it.
Justice Barlow before passing sentence told the accused she had listened to the contents of the report and the mitigation of his attorney, but she would disregard the report.
âPoverty is no excuse to kill,â the Judge stated.
She mentioned the fact that he had spent one year in jail, then sentenced him to life in prison with no parole before 24 years are served.
The accused had given an unsworn statement from the dock.
During the trial the prosecution called a number of witnesses including Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan who gave the cause of death as shock and hemorrhage due to multiple stab wounds.
The court also applied Section 95 of the Evidence Act to have the deposition of the deceased womanâs father Shafique Mohamed admitted in evidence.
The state called a number of witnesses to support its application including Police Sergeant Alexis Adams of the Central Immigration and Passport Office, Fazia Mohamed, daughter of Shafique and sister of Shazina, and Legal Clerk attached to the Fort Wellington Magistrateâs Court Ophelia Marques.
Shazam Khalil and Shazina Mohamed had reportedly met by accident. She had mistakenly dialed a wrong number which happened to be Khalilâs. After that they started to communicate.

It is the second such incident to have occurred in recent days and authorities are concerned about this trend, which they fear can lead to a breakdown in law enforcement. Dead is 26-year-old Seon Clarke, called âCash Moneyâ of Old Road, Land of Canaan, E.B.D. Police said investigations have revealed that Clarke and another male associate were beaten by public-spirited citizens from the community of Pearl Village, E.B.D., about 22:30hrs on Saturday. The proprietor, police said, made his way to the public road and alerted a policeman who
was passing at the time. The policeman responded and in the process summoned other policemen. The word quickly spread to surrounding villages. âThe men fled into the bushes, and during the process, two loud explosions were heard. A search was conducted but they were not found,â the police in the statement.
Again âabout 22:30hrs on Saturday night, members of the community spotted the men on the Pearl Public Road and apprehended them; during the process, it was alleged that one of the public-spirited citizens shot Clarke and inflicted a beating on his accomplice. The men were handed over to the police, who rushed them to the Diamond Public Hospital, where Clarke was pronounced dead on arrival, whilst his accomplice was treated and sent away. He has since been taken into police custody and is assisting with the investigation.â
The father of the dead man, Godfrey Clarke, said that he last saw his son two weeks ago in Georgetown since they do not live together. He said his son had previous brushes with the law and had been released from prison four weeks ago after being on remand for simple larceny. He had spent four months on remand. The senior Clarke said he heard of the incident at âAron Shopâ at Pearl, EBD, but had no idea it involved his son. âI hear that police shoot behind someone, but is now I actually hearing that is he. The last time he come home here he told me he had some construction work at Vega on the West Coast and when I saw him the next day, I ask him if he get paid and he said yes, but his money finished on the sea wall.â
The senior Clarke said he had advised his son to attend church and had asked him to change his life and get a job. Adding that his sonâs mother died over a decade ago, Mr Clarke said he had spoken to his son on numerous occasions about his intentions and plans for his life. The elder Clarke said his son never took his guidance and the end result was death.
The dead bandit has been identified as Odan Lallbeharry called âStewâ, 45, of New Forest, East Canje, Berbice.
According to reports, âStewâ was among five armed men who invaded and robbed the Edinburg Village home of shop owner Nankumar Datt and it was while they were escaping that he was shot and left behind by his accomplices.
âDuring (the robbery) one of the suspects received gunshot injuries in the process of exiting the premises and was later pronounced dead on arrival at the New Amsterdam Hospital,â a Police report said.
According to the Police, the incident occurred sometime around 01:30h.
Dattâs eldest daughter, Kelly, related the ordeal to Guyana Times on Sunday when she explained that she was awoken by the sound of persons walking on the zinc shed attached to their two-storey house and shortly after her father shouted that bandits were coming, they should run.
âBut when he shouts that, the bandits hear and so they hurry and break the window to my sisterâs room and come in the house. She was trying to open the room door to get out but she was having a hard time so they catch and start beating her,â the traumatised Kelly related.
The 21-year-old said that she was then confronted by two men and tried to prevent them from getting to her father, who escaped to seek help. Their mother was in hiding at the time.
She said that the men began shouting for her father by his call-name âBall Headâ and after they were unable to locate him, they began beating her and her 19-year-old sister. At time there were five men in total, all of whom were masked, she stated.
âThey beat us badâĶ they were hitting us with a cutlass; then they told us to put on the lights, and asked for money,â the young woman recalled.
She went on to say that three of them remained upstairs with her sister while two of them forced her downstairs into the shop, where she handed over some money, while they picked up a quantity of phone cards.
âThey bring down my sister and continue to beat her and after some time took us back upstairs and asked for more money. So I tell them they have to search the place but then my mother came out and give them the money ($100,000) because they start beating me and my sister again,â she recounted.
Kelly further told this newspaper that the men also took away her motherâs gold bracelet and some artificial jewellery that she and her sister were wearing, before escaping.
âThey told us not to move from the upstairs so they stay right there and then we hear two gunshots in the downstairs and we get scared because we thought was my father get shoot,â she stated.
The young woman said that they remained upstairs for a few minutes until they heard noises from neighbours and came downstairs. She noted that when they came down and got outside, they saw a man lying outside on the bridge, while her father was with the neighbours who were gathering around. The Police then arrived at the scene.
In a subsequent statement, the Police said that they arrived on the scene at about 02:00, and found the injured bandit on the businessmanâs bridge, clad in dark clothing and a pair of construction gloves.
The Police added that the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries.
Police say they managed to extract some vital information from the bandit before he succumbed.
That information led to the arrest of two individuals who are currently in custody assisting with the investigations.

She claims that neither she nor her husband had found the unanswered calls suspicious, as the elderly Ramkissoon would usually take afternoon strolls.
She said family returned home at Better Hope at approximately 7:30pm on Sunday, and noticed that the lights in the house were off and the doors open.
âWhen we go inside, my husband (Annand Ramkissoon) went upstairs to check the rooms, but found them ransackedâĶ When he come down now, he saw his father in a pool of blood on the chair with his throat slit,â she recounted.
Neighbours were alerted and the police were called. The elder Ramkissoon was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

â Son, two others arrested
The son of a 76-year-old man who was found with his throat slashed in his Lot 61 Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home on Sunday night, has been taken into custody, as police continue to investigate the pensionerâs
death.
The body of David Ramkissoon aka âShortmanâ, a father of five, was discovered in a pool of blood in the living room by his son, around 19:30 hrs on Sunday.
The younger Ramkissoon had just returned home after spending the day at a creek on the Soesdyke/ Linden Highway with his family. He and two other persons have been arrested.
Initially, detectives were looking at a theory in which the pensioner was killed during a robbery since the house was ransacked and money was reportedly stolen. However, after carefully examining the property, the cops found no forced entry.
A number of other factors caught the copsâ attention, one of which was the fact that a number of envelopes, in which Ramkissoon would have received his pension money, were found in a refrigeratorâas if someone was trying to hide something.
The pensioner shared the home with his son, daughter-in-law and the coupleâs two children.
One of the motives the police are looking at is that the pensioner was killed over his property. They seemed convinced that the manâs death was not linked to a robbery.
The daughter-in-law recounted that she and her family left home around 11:00 hrs on Sunday to go to the creek.
âWe left late and he was telling us is best we stay home and eat lunch then go to the creek, because the traffic to go to the creek gone be bad. He was sitting in the hammock when we left home.â
She added that when they returned home, they noticed that the house was in complete darkness which was a bit strange.
âMy husband went in the yard and opened the door and went inside to put on the light and he go in his father room and called for him, but he see the room ransacked and his father wasnât there, so we went in the other rooms and they were ransacked,â the woman said.
She said that it was when her husband was heading back downstairs that he noticed his father lying in blood and started screaming.
The daughter-in-law said that she and several neighbours rushed into the house and saw Ramkissoon on the floor. She said that she has no idea as to why the police would take her husband in custody since he is innocent and would in no way harm his father.
When asked if she has any idea as to who may want her father-in-law dead, the woman responded in the negative, but claimed that there are a number of young boys who do not work and would frequent the streets.
The police are looking at other motives.

A frustrated businessman is seeking an audience with the Minister of Public Security and the Commissioner of Police after armed bandits robbed his supermarket at Coverden, East Bank Demerara and threated to kill staff if the matter is reported to the police. The robbery occurred at about 19:30 PM Wednesday evening at Fresh Mart Supermarket, Coverden Public Road, East Bank Demerara, police said. No one was injured. Fearful for the safety of his staff and himself, the businessman who requested anonymity said the police are investigation the matter but with all the videos, photographic and technical evidence submitted to the investigators, he is of the opinion there is some reluctance in really solving the case.
The proprietor of the business is offering $1M cash reward for vital information leading to the capture of the robbers. âTwo of the bandits were masked, one was unmasked and all of them had guns. I gave the police the CCTV pictures and footage and the feeling I got is that they werenât going to do anything because one of the officers told me they were closed for the night, I donât know since when police station is close,â he explained.
He explained that the location from the stolen phone was even submitted to the police since he has someone in the telecommunications sector who traced the stolen phone. âThey (police) said they would have come back to the scene Thursday morning at 8AM now its minutes of 1PM and no one is here. The $1M Iâm offering is to ensure that the men are caught, right now I have private people working on it and if they make a breakthrough I would like to deal with senior officers and give them the evidence since the police at Providence Station appear unwilling,â the businessman emphasised.
Underscoring that he has no confidence in some policemen the businessman said his dealing with some ranks at the Diamond and Providence Police Station leaves much to be desired from the police force.
âEvery time I go to these stations and make important reports, the police ask me for a concrete lead such as names, location, vehicular number plates, descriptions of things I wonât have an idea of, I can only provide limited information thatâs why I visit the police station in the first place to assist me,â the businessman explained âIf I know the information they wanted why would I not give to help them solve a case faster, or do they want citizens to take the law in their own hands and go about the place solving their own issues.â

A FAMILY of three is contemplating their next move following the second break and enter and larceny at their Lot 619, Fourth Street, Eccles New Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara home on Wednesday.Distressed home owner, Warren Lord told the Guyana Chronicle on Thursday that they all left home for varying activities but when his wife Camille Persaud returned home after 15:00h on Wednesday she found two of the three dogs on the road and their home broken into.
Lord explained that the robber (s) gained entry to the yard via the back chain link fence by ripping out a section after which they prised opened a rear window and entered the one-flat concrete house. The very upset man said the perpetrators spent a lot of time in the edifice where they vandalised the ceiling, walls, doors and other sections of the house.
Lord added that the bandits also ransacked the place, room by room and selected what they wanted. They family is still trying to ascertain what is missing but so far, electronics including tablets, television set, jewels, money and their 10-year-old sonâs school supplies were stolen, including his footwear.
Lord said they have three ferocious dogs; two were in the yard while the other was locked away. He believes that something was fed to the dogs causing them to become disoriented, giving the home invaders an opportunity to enter the yard.
The couple and their son have been living at the location for about a year and a few months and it is the second such incident, which they said has shaken them to the core and they are thinking of what to do next.
âThe bandits did whatever they wanted and had the time to because even the soap is missing,â Lord said.
The matter was reported to the Providence Police Station but up to press time, no arrests were made. Neighbours related that they did not see or heard anything but a handful of villagers in that community are victims of similar incidents, reportedly by a gang of young men but are afraid to speak out.

Mark Anthony, called âQ Q,â was gunned down in North Ruimveldt shortly after 20.15 hrs last night.
According to reports, Anthony, 22, of North Ruimveldt, was sitting on a bench when two men approached him and drew handguns.
Anthony fled through a shortcut, pursued by the gunmen who caught up with him and riddled him before escaping.
Anthony was reportedly pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Kaieteur News understands that Anthony was freed just last April on firearm and ammunition charges.
Anthony, Andrew Davis Hescott, 35, of Middle Road La Penitence and 27-year-old Ryan Hescott had the charges against them dismissed after the prosecution had failed to tender the firearms to the court on several occasions.
The first charge had alleged that on December 5, last, at Robb Street, Georgetown, they had in their possession seven rounds of ammunition without being the holders of firearm licences.
It was further alleged that the men had two firearms in their possession, when they were not holders of licences.
The three men, along with now-dead Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Lance Corporal Aaron Eastman, were jointly charged with the offences.
Lance Corporal Eastman who had 10 years of service in GDF died on March 3, after he was burnt to death during the Camp Street Prison fire, which claimed the lives of 17 inmates. According to reports, on December 5, 2015 police ranks during âOperation Dragnetâ stopped a motorcar on Robb Street, after observing its occupants acting in a suspicious manner.
They conducted a search of the vehicle, which was reported to be bearing an obscure number plate. The lawmen allegedly unearthed the guns and ammunition hidden in various parts of the car.
It was reported that concerned citizens saw the defendants in a motor car on Robb Street, acting in a suspicious manner. Police were summoned and cornered the vehicle, driven by the soldier.
At the time the GDF rank was reportedly wearing a black âhoodieâ.
The vehicle was searched and the police reportedly found a .32 revolver with matching rounds under the front passengerâs seat and a 12 gauge sawn-off shot gun from under the driverâs seat.
When the quartet made their first court appearance on September 8, 2015, Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan had remanded them to prison on the ground of ensuring the publicâs safety and the need to prevent them from committing another offence.

The two businesses are also near each other.

There is no doubt that the Guyana Police Force has been desperately trying to build a
relationship with members of the public, but it seems as if some ranks are not too interested in developing a relationship with the people who are paying them.
Take for instance, a businessman, his customers and staff were harassed and robbed at gunpoint by three men at Fresh Mart Supermarket in Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara around 19:30 hrs on Wednesday.
The businessman says that approximately 20 minutes after the robbery, provided images captured on surveillance camera of the suspects and a possible location of the gunmen, but this information was completely disregarded by the police.
Firstly, when the proprietor visited the Providence Police Station to report the robbery Wednesday night, he claims he was told that the station was âclosed off for the nightâ.
Secondly, up until 14:00 hrs yesterday, the police did not visit the businessmanâs premises in Covent Garden to take fingerprintsâdespite promising to do so at 08:00hrs.
Wednesday nightâs incident was not the first, but in fact a series of robberies that occurred there. âI get so fed up of the police at the Providence station that I stopped reporting when things happen but this time, too many people were involved,â the man said.
He explained that his numerous âhorrifyingâ experiences with the Guyana Police Force have discouraged him in continuing business in Guyana.
âThe Minister (Khemraj Ramjattan) said that he will regulate private security firms, but the police force needs to be regulated, because the police are not doing anything for the citizens and there is no protection for anyone,â the businessman stated.
He explained that immediately after the robbery, he was able to trace his stolen cellular phone (which has a tracking device) and related this information to the police. âThe police said that they will send a patrol, but up to now, nothing was done.â
The proprietor is offering a $1M reward for any information leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
Recalling what transpired on the night of the robbery, the businessman said that they were just about to close the supermarket when two customers went in and requested to purchase a few items.
It was while the two staffers were attending to the customers that the three suspects rushed into the supermarket and demanded that everyone lie on the floor.
The men made off with an undisclosed sum of cash from the supermarket along with valuables from the staffers and customers.
While no one was harmed, the men did threaten to return and âkill a few peopleâ if they called the police.
The businessman believes that the robbery might have been plotted by someone whom he had a confrontation with sometime last month. He is calling on the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
There is no doubt that the Guyana Police Force has been desperately trying to build a relationship with members of the public, but it seems as if some ranks are not too interested in developing a relationship with the people who are paying them.
Perhaps, those ranks were expecting "a something".

When the Guyana Chronicle visited the crime scene on Friday morning, residents expressed fear and concern at the spate of armed robberies in the area and the frequent gunplay that accompany such incidents. Persons in Layou Street said it is normal for that particular group of young men to be sitting at that spot every night; and they saw when a man walked up to the young men, took out a gun, and started to discharge rounds at Anthony.
A shop owner said she was about to close up for the evening when she heard rapid gunfire and observed three men who were liming at the street corner scaling the front fence in a bid to escape from the gunmen. The trio entered her yard but escaped through an open back gate and hid in the alley.
The frightened woman disclosed that after the gunfire ended, her relatives came out to the verandah and saw Anthony crawling at the side of the yard. He begged them to call a car for him; they complied, and thus he was placed in a Green Ice taxi by his friends and residents and taken to the hospital.
A GOOD PERSON
A pall of gloom permeated the atmosphere at Anthonyâs residence as his sister, Malika Wilson, cried while recalling that her brother was at home all day and until the afternoon on Thursday, when he left home.
She said Anthony was unemployed, and would leave home to lime with friends in Layou Street, North Ruimveldt only in the afternoon. Wilson said she was told that two men came up and opened fire at her sibling; who tried to escape, but the men ran after him and continued shooting in his direction.
Unaware of the motive for Anthonyâs execution-style killing, the grieving Wilson disclosed that a few months ago the police had been picked up her brother for a robbery, but he was released after the victims had failed to point him out during an identification parade.
As to his other runs-in with the law, Wilson said she is certain her loved one had been innocent of those fabricated gun and ammunition charges.
CHEQUERED PAST
Police had, on December 5, 2015, reported that at about 10:30hrs, ranks had stopped a vehicle with âobscure number platesâ at Regent Street and Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown. Four occupants had allegedly been in that vehicle. A search had been conducted on the vehicle, and guns and ammunition were unearthed. That interception was made as part of the then Joint Services operation dubbed âOperation Dragnetâ, geared towards enhancing national security.
That stop-and-search had spawned the allegation that Lance Corporal Aaron Eastman, 27; Mark Anthony, 22; Andrew Davis-Escott, 25; and Brian Escott, 27, were carrying an unlicensed sawn-off pump action shotgun with matching rounds, and an unlicensed .32 revolver with matching rounds on December 5, 2015 at Robb Street. They were charged with having both the weapons and ammunition without being holders of firearm licences. That charge against Anthony was later dismissed.

Four men dressed as women robbed four vendors who work the night shift along Robb Street, Bourda, between Alexander and Bourda Streets. The incident occurred around 01:00hrs on Thursday.
According to one of the vendors, the men were armed with handguns and began pillaging the unsuspecting grocery sellers. She said that they used a car to make good their escape. It is unclear what type of vehicle was used or its registration number.
The vendor told Kaieteur News that her son was selling at the time, and was relieved of his cellular phone but the bandits were unable to take any significant sum of money.
Another stall owner said that she was the only person who went to the Brickdam Police Station to report the matter. She also said that it is not the first time the night vendors have been robbed. According to the woman, ranks of the Guyana Police Force need to beef up their presence in the area so as to curb the upsurge of criminal activity.
Male robbers disguising themselves in female attire seem to be the new mode of operation. Last Tuesday, one such individual along with an accomplice robbed a Kitty hotel. This publication was told that the âcross-dresserâ and another man approached a security guard, Mark Reid, who was working at the front desk of Mikelâs Plaza under the pretence of wanting to rent a room.
When Reid opened the door, three other men rushed in and held him up, robbing him of his cellular phone, wrist watch and a small amount of cash.

The woman, who was self-employed, was discovered with stab wounds about her face and body by her 27-year-old son Imtiaz Khan, about 16:45hrs on Sunday. Khan, who spoke with the Guyana Chronicle, explained that when he returned home from work he found his mother dead in the kitchen, which is located in the bottom flat of the wooden house.
âI come home from work about quarter to five and I see my mother dead. She get beat and stab in her face. So I shout out to my aunty and relatives them for rescue. But she was beaten a long time, because the blood was dry on her skin and she was almost stiff,â a visibly shaken Khan said.

While investigations were ongoing last evening, he (Chucky) was held as a suspect for questioning. However, Khan explained that âChuckyâsâ alibi is that he was out looking after cows, which he normally does.
In a twist of events though, the womanâs son revealed that someone who owes them money had threatened to kill both his mother and cousin recently. âA bannah owe we some money from boarding. My mother used to cook for he. He owe we about $20,000. And couple weeks now we ainât dealing because he ainât want to pay us and we keep asking for the money. He is an old convict so I donât know if is he do it,â Khan reasoned.
The body of 47-year old Anita âSandraâ Mohan being removed from her lot 315 South East Cummings Lodge home on Sunday evening
He further disclosed that the man has been finding excuses to pay the money, saying that he does not have it and when he works he will repay them. âTwo nights ago he threaten âChuckyâ and six of them tackle he [Chucky). So he went to the station to make a report and the police said they ainât got no vehicle,â Khan said.
Meanwhile, neighbours reported that the police had been contacted since the womanâs body was discovered by her son and it was not until after 18:00hrs that they arrived at the scene. âImagine the station deh a stoneâs throw away. Sophia station deh right behind deh and we call them since this boy find he mother and they come hours after,â one neighbour told this newspaper. In addition, the womanâs body was not removed until after 20:00hrs after it was said that the hearse had difficulties in locating the place.
The dead womanâs sister who opted not to give her name, described Mohan as âthe mother of the village,â revealing that she treated everyone in the area as if they were her family. âIf people call Sandra and tell she them hungry, Sandra gonna feed them. If people ainât got place to sleep, Sandra gonna call them in by she and provide somewhere for them. She had a big heart, and she worked hard to provide for her family,â the woman said.

â Ardell Haynesâ family still hopes for justice, eight years later
By Michael Jordan
Ardell Haynes was no criminalâĶjust a law-abiding loving father and skilled tradesman.
But 42-year-old Haynes was also fond of the bottle. That weakness led to a senseless and deadly confrontation almost eight years ago.
Back then, Ardell Haynes, an electrician, lived in South Ruimveldt with his wife and their ten-year-old daughter.
On Monday, December 8, 2008, two seemingly unrelated events happened. Ardell Haynes got drunk, and a petty thief broke into a womanâs home in East La Penitence.
Sometime in the wee hours of Tuesday 9, 2008, the phone rang at Ardell Haynesâ residence.
The caller identified herself as a policewoman and asked a relative who answered if she knew Mr. Haynes.
Yes, the relative said, and the policewoman told the relative that Mr. Haynes was at the East La Penitence Police Station.
The relative heard someone groaning in the background, and wanted to know why Mr. Haynes was at the station. The policewoman responded âI canât tell you, I canât tell you,â then hung up.
At around eleven oâclock on the night of December 8, 2008, Haynesâ reputed wife, Sherie Sydney, had tried unsuccessfully to contact the electrician on his cell phone. She surmised that he was out drinking with friends, since he seldom answered his phone when he was imbibing.
Next, a nephew attempted to reach Haynes on the electricianâs phone and got a disturbing response.
A man, who was definitely not his uncle, answered. In the background, the nephew reportedly heard someone shouting: âYuhâall doan kill dat man.â
The man who had answered the phone reportedly tried to pass himself off as Ardell Haynes.
The nephew relayed this information to Haynesâ reputed wife, and at around three oâclock, a worried Sherie Sydney contacted ranks at the East La Penitence Police Station by telephone to enquire whether there had been reports of anyone who had been beaten.
No one answered, but when she rang her husbandâs cellular phone, a man who identified himself as a police answered.
Mrs. Sydney was asked to redial the stationâs number. A policewoman answered and told her
âthey bring in a man and they say how is a thief.â
Mrs. Sydney, accompanied by two other relatives, went to the station. There they found a badly beaten and unresponsive Ardell Haynes lying in the station compound, while it rained.
Haynes was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
No police rank reportedly accompanied the relatives to the hospital. Kaieteur News understands that Sydney was beaten by as many as a dozen people. His skull was fractured (he was reportedly struck on the head with hammer) and most of his internal organs were damaged.
What had happened was that at around two oâclock on Tuesday, December 9, a burglar had broken into the Pirai Square, East La Penitence home of a Mrs. Christine Canterbury.
The thief, who had entered through a window, was making off with the womanâs television set, when some residents saw him and raised an alarm.
The thief reportedly dropped the television set and fled through an alley, with a group of young men hot on his tracks.
Around that same time, an intoxicated Ardell Haynes was riding a borrow bicycle through the area. That was when a group of residents mistook him for âthe thiefâ, even though the victim, Christine Canterbury, would later say that she could not recognize the burglar.
It is alleged that a woman in the mob struck him in the head with a hammer. A source close to the family alleged that some of Haynesâ assailants had been âsmokingâ prior to the brutal assault.
The beating reportedly left Haynes unable to stand. His attackers then took him to the East La Penitence Police Station, where he was left to die in the compound.
The ranks reportedly failed to take statements, or the names of those who brought Haynes to the station.
However, a few days later, police arrested two East La Penitence men who were said to have been among the âvigilante group.â
On December 23, 2009, forty-eight-year-old Ordock Reid of 1969 Blue Mountain Road, Festival City and Keith Binns also called âBoogyâ of Lot A 76 East La Penitence, were charged with manslaughter.
The prosecutor objected to granting the accused men, on the grounds that the two might not return to court if their conditional freedom was granted
Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson ordered that the men be remanded.
But then years passed, and Ardell Hayneâs relative s aid they heard nothing more about the matter. Mrs. Haynes said that she was told that the case had been put over to the High Court. This suggested that there was enough evidence for the two accused to face a trial.
But last week, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutors (DPP) told Kaieteur News that the case had been ânolle prossedâ since 2009.
Kaieteur News was unable to ascertain why the prosecution apparently indicated that there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the case against the two.
âI do not believe that anything can come out of the matter now,â an individual close to the slain man said yesterday.
âBut we are still angry over his death, and still upset over the actions of the East La penitence police, who just left him in the rain.â
At the time, it was reported that the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) had launched an investigation into the alleged negligence and misconduct of the ranks who were on duty when Haynes was taken to the East La Penitence Police Station. It is unclear whether any rank was disciplined.

An Albouystown man, who was dragged out of his home last Wednesday by a group of men, reportedly stole a quantity of diamonds and cash from his abductors.
The man has been identified as Ryan Khan, a fisherman, of 147 Cooper Street, Albouystown.
According to information received, Khan was allegedly abducted by eight armed men, who arrived at his home in four white cars.
Yesterday, a police source said that the man who was kidnapped has been described as a âserial safe-breaker,â and burglars would usually pay him to break their victimsâ safes.
The source said that Khan along with others reportedly broke into someoneâs house in Kitty recently and stole a significant amount of cash along with diamonds after breaking a safe.
It is alleged that it is as a result of that burglary that the Albouystown resident was kidnapped.
âThis man is bad when it comes to breaking people safe. He can pass at a house and tell you how many safes you have in your house and then come back with his crew to steal from you later,â a source told this newspaper.
Kaieteur News was told that when the Kitty residents were robbed, they apparently did not bother to report the matter but instead decided to âtake matters in their own handsâ.
âLike these people had a lot of valuables in there and when these people (thieves) went into their home, they escaped with a lot of valuables. They (thieves) even started spending the people money. One person bought car and so, but we hearing that he sell back the car when he hear the people tracking them down,â a source said.
It is believed that Khan will be released after he hands over the valuables to the persons from whom he stole them.
Khanâs relatives told this newspaper that he was on his verandah when he was forced at gunpoint into a white, heavily-tinted Toyota Premio. The men then took him out of the car and back into his house to retrieve some clothing.
Kaieteur News was told that calls to Khanâs phone went unanswered until Thursday evening, when a man who answered said: âIf I donât get my diamonds, Iâll kill him.â That was the last time any contact was made to the manâs phone.
The relatives said that they heard Khan yelling in the background during the call. On the day he was kidnapped, he was wearing a yellow jersey, camouflage pants and hat and a pair of brown slippers.

A Post Mortem examination performed on the remains yesterday revealed that the victim died from hemorrhage due to multiple incision wounds.
Reports are that on Friday, English and one of the suspects (the son) were imbibing alcohol at a shop in Port Kaituma when an argument ensued, which later resulted in English sustaining a chop wound to the head.
Kaieteur News understands that the two men had a previous disagreement and while consuming alcohol, they were taunting each other about the issueâthis resulted in the suspect getting angry and attacking the victim.
Englishâs wife, Lashana Nichols, said that when her spouse was chopped to the head, he went further up the backdam, less than a mile from where he was drinking, to meet with his attackerâs father and complain to him about what his son had done.
âWhen he reach to the camp to complain to the boyâs father, the man hold his two hands and his son come and start chop he (English). The workers dem who were in the camp run away because of how they were chopping Ryan,â Nichols said.

POLICE were on Tuesday reviewing surveillance footage from cameras mounted on the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) building in an effort to identify the gunman, who shot, injured and robbed an America Street money changer of an undisclosed amount of cash. The licensed firearm holder has been identified as Mahendra Deonarine of Lot B, Plantain Walk Public Road, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara. Sleuths disclosed that footage revealed that the shooter was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and they are trying to enlarge the image to get a closer look at the suspect in hope of locating him.
Meanwhile, Deonarine is said to be in a stable condition after he underwent a surgical operation at a private hospital. He was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the private institution based on his request.
At downtown Georgetown when the incident happened people who were in the vicinity recalled hearing a gunshot and scampered for cover since they were unsure of what was happening. It was when they saw the money changer fell to the ground that they went to his aid.
According to police in âAâ Division, Deonarine had just disembarked a speed boat plying the Vreed-en-Hoop to Georgetown Ferry Stelling route when he was accosted by a gunman. This happened at about 09:50 hrs. in front of the Georgetown Ferry Stelling, while the businessman was making his way to America Street, where his business is located.
Police told the Guyana Chronicle that the robber walked up to Deonarine and shot him once to the abdomen after which he went through his pockets and relieved him of an undisclosed amount of money when he slumped to the ground.
Detectives said that based on information received so far, it would appear that the incident is a âhitâ gone wrong and movements of the money changer was well orchestrated.
A visit to Deonarineâs home did not yield much since no one was there, but when contacted by telephone relatives of the injured man refused to speak to this newspaper saying that they were busy.
Police also said that the relatives were uncooperative with lawmen and as such it is not known whether Deonarineâs gun was taken during the armed robbery.

Let me add that a relative was visiting Canada and had her home cleaned out when she returned from her vacation.
Funny, she was boasting about AFC's law and order and anti corruption mantra during the election campaign. She recently posted on Facebook that Guyana is no longer a safe place since the AFC/PNC took over.
I politely reminded her that is it called Karma, she got conned and voted for the AFC and received a harsh payback. Karma never fails. Indos did not know how safe they were until the AFC/PNC donkeys and crooks showed up.
She has since expressed regret and admitted being conned.
Another relative planted huge amounts of rice in Berbice and was slo conned by the AFC. He has since sold everything and quietly moved back the Canada since the rice industry collapsed. I remembered him about Moses offering the highest price for rice to them and in the end, Granger threw Indos under the bus and these AFC/PNC idiots did nothing to secure markets to assist suffering farmers.
These AFC/PNC idiots will be kicked out unless they rig the next election. Blacks, Mixed and Natives are now feeling the BIG SQUEEZE as the economy collapses.
They are all paying for allowing themselves to be conned by the AFC.
This is just the beginning. Take a look at this thread and see for yourself who are the main victims of crime since the AFC/PNC took over.
Where is loudmouth Joey ? The AFC/PNC crooks are looting and he cannot say shyte about it. He is another Indo jackass. PNC will kick them to the curb.

The owner of Sleepin Hotel plans to step up security measures, as the hotel was robbed at gun point on Tuesday evening.
Yesterday Kaieteur News was informed by the hotel owner, that several persons came forward with information regarding the identity of the two bandits. This information was forwarded to the Guyana Police Force who are currently investigating the matter.
Early Tuesday evening ranks of the Guyana Police Force were summoned to the hotel. Two men, who pulled up outside the hotel located on Church Street, Alberttown, robbed staffers of the hotel at about 19:20 hours.
One of men entered the premises ostensibly enquiring about a room for a relative, who was coming to Guyana for five days. The receptionist made the young man who was said to be in his 20s, aware of the rates at the hotel.
The individual then took out a phone and began to send a text. At this point, hotel staffers were of the view that he was relating the information (prices) to the said relative. Moments later another man emerged from the car, entered the lobby of the hotel brandishing a gun. He was said to be in his 30s.
The doorman who was reportedly paying attention to the first man, who entered the lobby area, was surprised by the gun toting bandit who ordered him to give up all he had.

THE health center in âCâ Field, Sophia was again robbed on Wednesday, causing nurses there to put up a âclosed until further noticeâ sign.
The last time the facility was robbed, the nurses had vowed not to work there any longer until something is done about the spate of robberies there.
A resident in the area told the Chronicle, on condition of anonymity, that the nurses are very scared to work at the center having been robbed several times in the past.
âThis is bad for the community because this is the only health centre around,â the resident lamented.
The gunman, who went to take a patient for medical treatment, waited until they went in to the nurse to stage the robbery. The patientâs details, and the car number that took him and the robber to the centre were handed over to the authorities, the resident informed.
According to him, there is a female security officer at the site who is incapable of dealing with this situation as the robbers are armed.
âThese are young men ages 15-19 and no older,â said the resident. No major damage was done this last time as the nurses quickly raised an alarm, causing the robber to escape.
During a previous robbery, a gunman pretending to be suffering from severe back pain, robbed a doctor and four nurses of their personal belongings at the said center. While he was inside the medical centre, an accomplice was on the lookout in the waiting area.
The doctor was with a patient when a nurse entered the room and informed him about the patient with the back pain. The bandit then rushed into the room and pulled out a gun, robbing the doctor of his gold band and chain. The nurses were also relieved of their cellphones.

In a statement police said that investigations are being conducted into the alleged murder, which occurred at about 23:30hs onWednesday. The alleged perpetrator, who is the victimâs father, subsequently fled the scene but has since been apprehended and taken into custody. Enquiries disclosed that the suspect had requested to borrow some money from his wife who refused his request. As a result they had an altercation which turned violent. The victim, who is their son,was present and he intervened.During the altercation the suspect armed himself with a cutlass and inflicted a wound to the chest of the victim, who ran and collapsed. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, the police statement ended.
Cocaine crave
Meanwhile, detailing the event on Thursday morning, mother of the deceased, Tajeranie Chowtie, told the Guyana Chronicle that it was about 10:30 hrs. on Wednesday when her husband, Amernauth Chand, began his usual demands for money to buy cocaine and cannabis sativa (marijuana). She stated that she was in bed with her husband when he got up and began pacing the house, demanding she give him money while her son, Mahesh, was asleep in the same bedroom.
As usual, the woman said he started to hit her and it was then Mahesh got up in her defence and it infuriated the man. She said her husband told their son, âYou take your mother side and stand up to me.â The grieving woman related that there was a scuffle between the father and son after which the elder Chand armed himself with a cutlass from the kitchen. It was at this stage that Mahesh reportedly told his father that: âI big now,you canât beat me anymore.â Guyana Chronicle was told that the elder Chand became angry and attacked his son, even after the young man had gone back to his bed. The woman said when her husband attacked her son she fled the house in fear and went to hide in the yard in some bushes. The other two teenage children also went into hiding. Chowtie told this newspaper that her husband usually works as a handyman around the area and he had given her $2000 earlier in the day and they made some purchases of things needed for the house and just $400 had remained.
She said her husband was aware of that and he wanted the money to buy drugs. He stole the money and even got $200 more from Mahesh just to leave her alone.
The woman said that after the stabbing her son was left bleeding on the bed and then they heard when he fell from the bed;but they were afraid to go to his rescue because Chand would, from time to time ,threaten to kill all of them. She said that after her husband left the house she went to her son and saw him panting for breath. The woman said she called out for help after which the neighbours came but by then Mahesh had bled out. It was about half hour later when he was transported to the GPHC,where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Amernauth Chand was later apprehended and is in police custody.
Abuse
Chowtie told the Guyana Chronicle that she suffered years of abuse at the hands of Chand and whenever she tried to leave him he would beg her to take him back. She said that because of the five children she always returned;but he never changed. The woman stated that because of fright two of her sons, ages 20 and 23 years old ,do not live with them, but rather at her sister in the same yard but in a house at the back. She noted that Mahesh, who is her eldest child, was the breadwinner of the home.
Her two younger children,a 15-year-old son and a 16-year-old daughter, also reside with her in their one-bedroom wooden house. Chowtie said since she met her husband he has always been hooked on drugs, but back then he only used to use marijuana, but years later he began using crack cocaine. She told this newspaper that her husband did not drink alcohol, but abused drugs and had to get it 3 to 4 times a day- a habit she supported by giving him money out of fear of being beaten. The woman said too that when the children were younger he used to beat them and there was nothing she could do because he would beat her even more. Chowtie disclosed that her husband beat her a lot and even chopped her a few times. She wanted to see him go to jail,
She reported too that when the neighbours tried to help her and the children, her husband would verbally abuse them. âMy husband always used to tell Mahesh he will chop him because he does stand up for me when I getting beat and I never thought he would actually do it but everyone was afraid of him because he is very violent.â She said Mahesh and his father fought before and whenever he is hitting her,he (Mahesh) would step in to save her from being badly beaten.
Neighbours
On the streets, neighbours were livid, some of whom told the Guyana Chronicle that violence and loud quarrels were the norm whenever the elder Chand needs a âquick fixâ of drugs.
They said he would often beat his wife for money to buy drugs and when the woman refuses he would throw a tantrum. Villagers said that when they heard Chand quarreling on Wednesday night,it was nothing new,but when the mother began screaming for help they realised something had gone wrong.
They expressed shock since they described the man as being normal when he did not âsmokeâ but when he was under the influence of drugs, he would become violent. Residents said the man would do work for them by cleaning their yards and do other odd jobs but he was not a responsible person and hardly gave any of his earnings to his wife and he did not contribute to the home. As a result of the hardships, the children had to come out of school, and began working at a young age.
They reported that Mahesh was the quiet one, who contributed to the home and looked after his siblings and mother.

Police stepped up the hunt today for two gunmen who shot a Professional Guard Service rank during a foiled heist just before midnight outside the Demerara Bank Limited in Camp Street.
Security guard Michael De Clou was shot at least twice in the buttocks by one of the shotgun-toting men after he refused to hand over a bag of cash that the PGS ranks were preparing to deposit at the bank.
The gunmen, who arrived at the scene in a car, were forced to retreat empty-handed after the wounded guard returned fire.
From all appearances, the PGS team, who were travelling in a security van, was trailed to the bank after picking up cash deposits from two Royal Castle outlets in Sheriff Street and South Ruimveldt.
Kaieteur News understands that De Clou had exited the van outside the bank with a money bag, when he observed that a car had stopped behind the PGS vehicle.
Seconds later, two men, including one with a shotgun, exited the car and ordered De Clou to âhand over the money.â
Instead, the quick-thinking guard tossed the sack of cash back into the PGS van. The robber with the shotgun then shot De Clou, who responded with gunfire of his own, which forced the gunmen to retreat.
De Clou was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and was still receiving treatment in the hospitalâs Accident and Emergency Unit at press time.
He was visited by some of his colleagues and also by his employer, Mr. Sean Kirkpatrick.
The attack is believed to have been recorded on security cameras at the scene.

Maybe this is the reason for all the crime we see. The coalition brayed that they would clean up criminal activities but we see it continue unabated, especially against Indian victims.

Apparently there is a parallel criminal society in Guyana where guns are the norm and police are impotent.
How are people allowed to discharge fire arms in gun salute while police look on helplessly? Do they have licences for these weapons are are just another criminal network condoned by the Granger administration?
NINETEEN-year-old Ryan âHarryâ Sargeant, who was gunned down outside the Rio nightclub, was laid to rest yesterday at Le Repentir Cemetery amidst a large gathering of mourners, some of whom discharged rapid gunshots in the air, bidding him farewell.Hundreds of people, some arriving in cars and on motorcycles, created a huge build-up of vehicular traffic; and although armed police ranks were strategically placed at the burial site, mourners, who outnumbered the lawmen, managed to discharge many shots in the air. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The large gathering, which consisted of relatives, friends and others, was accompanied by music of the likes of Alkaline, while many openly indulged in various alcoholic beverages. The scene resembled that of a âpartyâ, while loud cries could be heard in Le Repentir Cemetery; and it was hours before the crowd dispersed and the police left the area.
Following the shooting which claimed the life of the teenager and injured another man on September 26, six persons were taken into custody, but they were all subsequently released.
