I don't quite understand what all the fuss is about. Just about every movie TV series or PC/console game I see that comes out of the US is based around mass killings. It must be a way of life over there. It should be applauded that that such things are done in the open instead of hidden away.

The rifle association has constantly opposed any form of gun control. So again it cannot be much of an issue. All part and parcel of the American way of life and their right to carry arms. Even if it is going to a cinema with an AR-15 fitted with a large magazine. None of it was illegal in any way.

And the Media is now portraying him as a person who needs sympathy.  One article mentioned that his mom called police and told them she knew who had done it..was there warning signs and why did she not do something earlier?

We need to have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior, deranged or not deranged sometimes the death penalty seems the only way to go!

Can't wait for this sucker to be charged with murder -PREMEDITATED ACT, FAR FROM INSANITY

'Dark Knight' shooting suspect will plead insanity and fail: Legal experts

Washington, July 23

'Dark Knight' massacre suspect James Holmes will try to dodge the death penalty with a desperation insanity defense, but is likely to fail, legal experts have said.

Holmes, 24, allegedly opened fire during a packed midnight screening of Batman film 'The Dark Knight Rises,' killing nearly 12 people at a movie hall in Denver.

According to Colorado legal expert, it's a certainty Holmes will try pleading insanity.

"The only real defense would be the insanity defense," the New York Post quoted former federal prosecutor Rick Kornfeld, as saying.

"The first order of business for his defense lawyer is to get a grasp of Holmes' mental status," he said.

According to Craig Silverman, former prosecutor in the Denver District Attorney's Office, to mount a successful insanity defense, the attorney representing Holmes must show that he could not tell the difference between right and wrong and that he does not understand the charges against him.

"He would have to prove that he lacked the capacity to distinguish right from wrong," the report quoted Silverman, as saying.

"Insanity would apply if this guy really thought he was a character in a movie," he added.

According to the paper, experts said that Holmes is likely be represented by public defenders.

"I would expect a public defender to jump in. This is not Texas. These lawyers are good and well-compensated," Silverman said. (ANI)

haha, it start! ..................................... A young man who survived Friday's shootings in an Aurora, Colorado movie theater is planning to file suit against Cinemark, TMZ reported Tuesday. Torrence Brown, Jr. was also close friends with one of the 12 people killed in the attack, 18-year-old A.J. Boik. Neither of Brown's parents would confirm the planned lawsuits Tuesday afternoon, referring Yahoo News to Brown's lawyer, who didn't return requests for comment. Attorney Don Karpel told TMZ that the suit will allege that the Century 16 theater, which is owned by Cinemark, was negligent for not having the exit door guarded or equipped with an alarm that would sound when it opened. (Holmes reportedly left the theater via the exit door, propped it open, and reentered with his weapons.) The suit also targets Warner Brothers, blaming their movie's violence for inspiring Holmes. Also named in the suit: suspect James Holmes' doctors, if they exist, for hypothetically not monitoring his hypothetical mental condition adequately.
