This has been a rough week for the extended Arthur family.

Firstly, my niece, Nadira Sewchand, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Joel Sewchand passed away in Newburg, MD on Saturday.  Nadie was a young Attorney whose untimely death utterly devastated the family.  The Sewchand family is from Nismes, West Bank Demerara. Her funeral is on Thursday September 2.

Secondly, my first cousin, Lenny Jagdhar of Brooklyn NY and Port Mourant, Berbice passed away this morning. The funeral arrangements are still to be determined.

As if that is not enough, Doreen Ramroop, wife of my cousin, Leonard Ramroop of Sheet Anchor, Canje and Fyrish, Corentyne (Ohab's Gas Station) passed away yesterday.  Her funeral arrangements are also being determined.

May they all rest in peace.

Lenny is just over 50.  The Ramroops lived right next to Sheet Anchor Anglican School.  I knew the Tayloos very well.  Shrimati and I were classmates for much of primary school at Sheet Anchor Anglican.  If you do connect with them please give me a shout.  I would be delighted to reconnect with them.

Those dark skinned people that had that shop next to the school are my cousins.  I think I know Lenny.

Cant say I remember Shrimati very well but know she was a pretty light skinned kid about six or seven years older than I was. Last time I saw her I was 14. I am told she is in the area. Will make it a point to contact her.

My condolences once again.

the Sewchands from Nemes - is there a Kumarie in that family?

The beautiful Kumarie is my wife.  Thanks for your expression of support.

Small world indeed!!

I remember her as a teacher at LaGrange primary school - don't think she actually taught me but definitely taught a couple of my siblings and a few nieces/nephews back in the 70s.

And yes, I remember her as a very beautiful woman

there is a story I vividly recall about a sari fashion show which she as a teacher and me as a student were a part of.

Errol Bro, my condolences to your family.

When I am faced with multiple pruning challenges, I tell myself, if I look hard enough, there has to be a positive message for me to learn and grow.

Most times the message is about myself and my relationship with others, because animosity has its consequences.

It would seem, often in challenges that we tend to become more mature to handle other challenges, that will take us forward in life.

Tek care bai, [2007]

The Arthur, Sewchand, Jagdhar and Ramroop families accept with humility and gratitude your expressions of sympathy and support for us at this difficult time.  It has certainly certainly made our burdens easier to bear.  Thanks again!
