This is a nice gesture Sis Radha, lets list what we have and who knows we can even take it to 25 or more: These are all beautiful Patriotic Songs. How wonderful it would be if we can list all with translations so that our other friends can understand the meaning.

RADHA'S DEDICATION TO AN INDIAN ARMY OFFICER: PATRIOTIC SONGS:

"Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo" (āĪ āĪŪāĨ‡āĪ°āĨ‡ āĪĩāĪĪāĪĻ āĪ•āĨ‡ āĪēāĨ‹āĪ—āĨ‹āĪ‚) "O! the people of my country!") is a Hindi patriotic song written by Kavi Pradeep, composed by C. Ramchandra and sung by Lata Mangeshkar commemorating Indian soldiers who died during the Sino-Indian War. Kavi Pradeep was reportedly moved to compose the song by accounts of casualties of the war.

The song was famously performed live on January 27, 1963 by Lata Mangeshkar at the National Stadium in the presence of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on account of Republic Day (26 January) 1963, just two months after the end of the war. A copy of the soundtrack spool was also later gifted to Nehru on the occasion. The song is said to have moved Nehru to tears.

"Those who don't feel inspired by 'Aye mere watan ke logo' doesn't deserve to be called a Hindustani", said Nehru, who was visibly moved by the song. The song received rave appreciation from across the country.

In 2013, Lata Mangeshkar told a TV channel that initially she had declined to sing the song as she had not got enough time to rehearse the song. "It was Pradeepji, (Kavi Pradeep) the poet, who wrote the immortal lyrics, who came to me and asked me to sing the song. I declined, because there was no time to rehearse. You see, at that time I was working round-the-clock. To give special attention to one song seemed impossible. But Pradeepji insisted," Lata said, admitting that she was very nervous before the performance. Kavi Pradeep, the man who penned lyrics of the song, couldn't witness the event. "My regret is that Pradeepji had not been called for the Republic Day function where I sang the song. If he was there, he would have seen with his own eyes what impact 'Ae mere watan ke logo' had," Lata told.

All of the artists and technicians involved with the song — including singers, musicians, music director, lyricist, recording studio, sound recordist — and later, lyricist Kavi Pradeep pledged the royalty of the song in perpetuity to the War Widows Fund. In 2005, the Bombay High Court asked the music company HMV to indicate a lump sum payable to the Army Welfare Fund from the song's royalty proceeds

1) AYE MERE WATAN KE LOGON

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7G9iQR5uyU

Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo: Lyrics and Translation

Ai mere vatan ke logo, tum khuub lagaa lo naaraa

Oh, my fellow citizens! Chant slogans in praise of our country.

Yah shubhdin hai ham sab kaa, laharaa lo tiiranga pyaaraa

This is an auspicious day for us all,  so fly our beloved tri-color flag.

Par mat bhuulo siimaa par viiron ne hai praan ganvaaye

Yet, do not forget that brave soldiers have lost their lives on our borders.

Kuchh yaad unhein bhii kar lo, jo laut ke ghar na aaye

Remember those who have not returned home.

Ai mere vatan ke logo, zaraa aankh mein bhar lo paani

Oh, my fellow citizens! Shed a few tears.

Jo shahiid hue hain unkii, zaraa yaad karo qurbaanii

Remember the sacrifice of those martyrs.

Tum bhuul na jaao unko, is liye suno yah kahaanii

Listen to this story so that you do not forget them.

Jo shahiid hue hain unkii, zaraa yaad karo qurbaani

Remember the sacrifice of those martyrs.

Jab ghaayal huaa himaalay, khatre mein padii aazaadii

When the great Himalayas were wounded and our freedom was in danger,

Jab tak thii saans lade ve, phir apnii laash bichha dii

They fought until their last breath and then laid their corpses to the ground. Sangiin pe dhar kar maatha, so gaye amar baliidaanii

Resting their heads on bayonets, these immortal martyrs fell into an eternal sleep.

Jo shahiid hue hain unkii, zaraa yaad karo qurbaanii

Remember the sacrifice of those martyrs.

Jab desh mein thii diivaalii, ve khel rahe the holii

When our country celebrated Diwali, they were playing Holi on the battlefield.

Jab ham baithe the gharon mein, ve jhel rahe the golii

As we sat comfortably in our homes, they were firing bullets.

Thii dhanya javaan ve apane, thii dhanya vah unkii javaanii

Blessed were those soldiers, and blessed was their youth.

Jo shahiid hue hain unkii, zaraa yaad karo qurbaanii

Remember the sacrifice of those martyrs.

Koii sikh koii jaat maraathaa, koii gurkhaa koii madaraasii

Some were Sikh, Jaat, or Marathi; some were Gurkha or Madrasi.

Sarhad par marnevaala har viir thaa bhaaratvaasii

But each man who died on the border was an Indian,

Jo khuun giraa parvat par, wah khuun thaa hindustaanii

And the blood that stained the mountainside was Indian blood.

Jo shahiid hue hain unkii, zaraa yaad karo qurbaanii

Remember the sacrifice of those martyrs.

Thii khuun se lathpath kaayaa, phir bhii banduuk uthaa ke

Although their bodies were soaked in blood, they still raised their guns.

Das das ko ek ne maaraa, phir gir gaye hosh ganvaa ke

Each man shot tens of enemy soldiers and then fell unconscious to the ground.

Jab ant samay aayaa to kah gaye ki ab marte hain

When the final moment came, they said: “Now we shall die.

Khush rahnaa desh ke pyaaro, ab ham to safar karte hain

My beloved countrymen, stay happy. We now begin our final journey to the afterlife.”

Kyaa log the ve diivaane, kyaa log the ve abhiimaanii

They displayed such passion and dignity.

Jo shahiid hue hain unkii, zaraa yaad karo qurbaani

Remember the sacrifice of those martyrs.

Tum bhuul na jaao unko, is liye kahii yah kahaanii

This story has been recounted so that you do not forget them.

Jo shahiid hue hain unkii, zaraa yaad karo qurbaani

Remember the sacrifice of those martyrs.

Jai hind, jai hind kii senaa jai hind, jai hind, jai hind!

Victory to India and its armed forces!

And so with this one, Pandit Jawarharlall Nehru wept silently

RADHA'S DEDICATION TO AN INDIAN ARMY OFFICER: PATRIOTIC SONGS:

ANOTHER GEM FOR SIS RADHA'S LIST

Inspired by a Tagore short story of the same name, Hemen Gupta’s Kabuliwala (1961) narrates the story of a dry fruit seller named Rehman (played by Balraj Sahni) who leaves Afghanistan to come do business in India. Missing the daughter he was compelled to leave behind in his homeland, Rehman finds comfort in befriending a young Bengali girl named Mini in Calcutta.

This emotionally stirring film is accompanied by an equally beautiful soundtrack composed by Salil Chowdhury and penned by Prem Dhawan. By all accounts, the most memorable song from this soundtrack is ai mere pyaare vatan. Sung with incredible pathos by Manna De, this song has become one of the filmi world’s greatest contributions to the oeuvre of Indian patriotic music. The prominence that this song has gained in the desh-bhakti genre of Indian music is somewhat ironic given its context in the film: it is picturized on Rehman, an alienated Pathan in India who yearns for his homeland of Afghanistan.

In the sphere of Hindi film music, ai mere pyaare vatan is considered one of the most beautiful expressions of love for one’s homeland–a universal force that can transcend all cultural boundaries. On this special day, let us embrace the patriotic spirit of these lyrics and remember always to treat our homelands with honor, love and respect.

Aye Mere Pyare Watan: Lyrics and Translation

Aye mere pyre watan, aye mere bichde chaman

Oh my dearest homeland, oh my lost garden

Tujh pe dil qurbaan

I shall sacrifice my heart for you.

Tuu hii merii aarzuu, tuu hii merii aabruu

You are my desire, you are my honor.

Oh my dearest homeland, oh my lost garden

Tujh pe dil qurbaan

I shall sacrifice my heart for you.

Tere daaman se jo aaye un havaaon ko salaam

I shall salute the winds that pass through your foothills.

Chuum luun main us zubaan ko jis pe aaye teraa naam

I shall kiss those lips that take your name.

Sab se pyaarii subaah terii sab se rangiin terii shaam

You have the most beautiful of dawns and the most colorful of evenings. Tujh pe dil qurbaan

You are my desire, you are my honor.

Maan kaa dil ban ke kabhii siine se lag jaataa hai tuu

Sometimes you cling to my chest as my mother’s heart,

Aur kabhii nanhiin sii beTii ban ke yaad aataa hai tuu

Sometimes I remember you as my little daughter.

Jitnaa yaad aataa hai mujhko utnaa taDpaataa hai tuu

The more I remember you, the more you torment me.

Tujh pe dil qurbaan

I shall sacrifice my heart for you.

Tuu hii merii aarzuu, tuu hii merii aabruu

You are my desire, you are my honor.

Tuu hii merii jaan

You are my life.

Chhod kar terii zamiin ko duur aa pahunche hain ham

Having left your land, I have arrived somewhere far from home.

Phir bhii hai yahiin tamannaa tere zarron kii qasam

Swearing by every particle of your essence, I still harbor the desire

Ham jahaan paidaa hue us jagah pe nikle dam

To take my last breath where I was born.

Tujh pe dil qurbaan

I shall sacrifice my heart for you.

Aye mere pyaare vatan, ai mere bichhDe chaman

Oh my dearest homeland, oh My lost garden!

Tujh pe dil qurbaan

I shall sacrifice my heart for you.

4) SANDESI AATI HAIN

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQBidc3eHPY

LYRICS AND TRANSLATIONS

Sandese aate hain

Messages arrive; .

Humein tadpaate hain

they trouble us. .

To chitthi aati hai

Then letters come; .

To poochh jaati hai

they ask, .

Ke ghar kab aaoge

When will you come home? .

Likho kab aaoge

Write and tell us when you’ll come home, .

Ki tum bin ye ghar soona soona hai

For without you, this house is empty, empty. . [Chorus]

Kisi dilwaali ne kisi matwaali ne

Some lover, some seductive lady,

Humein khat likkha hai

has written us a letter,

Ki humse poochha hai

and it has asked us.

Kisi ki saason ne kisi ki dhadkan ne

Someone’s breath, someone’s heartbeat,

Kisi ki choodi ne kisi ke kangan ne

someone’s bangle, someone’s bracelet,

Kisi ke kajre ne kisi ke gajre ne

the flowers in someone’s hair,

Mahekti subahon ne machalti shaamon ne

the scented dawns, the riotous evenings,

Akeli raaton ne adhoori baaton ne

the lonely nights, the incomplete words,

Tarasti baahon ne |the yearning embraces,

Aur pooccha hai tarsi nighahon ne

and the longing glances have asked,

Ke ghar kab aaoge

when will you come home?

Ke ghar kab aaoge

when will you come home?

Likho kab aaoge

Write us about when you’ll come home,

Ki tum bin ye dil soona soona hai

because without you, these hearts are empty, empty.

Sandese aate hain

Messages arrive;

Humein tadpaate hain

they trouble us.

To chitthi aati hai

Then letters come;

To poochh jaati hai

they ask,

Ke ghar kab aaoge

When will you come home?

Likho kab aaoge

Write and tell us when you’ll come home,

Ki tum bin ye ghar soona soona hai

for without you, this house is empty, empty.

Mohabbat walon ne hamare yaaron ne

Our lovers, our friends,

Humein ye likkha hai ke humse poochha hai

they’ve written us this, they’ve asked us;

Hamare gaaon ne aam ki chaaon ne

our towns, the shadows of the mango trees,

Puraane peepal ne baraste baadal ne

the old Peepal tree, the rain showering down,

Khet khaliayaanon ne hare maidaanon ne

the fields of wheat, the verdant town squares,

Basanti belon ne jhoomti belon ne

the ocher climbers, the twisting vines,

Lachakte jhulon ne behekte phoolon ne

the rocking swings, the swaying flowers,

Chatakti kaliyon ne |the bursting blossoms,

Aur poochha hain gaaon ki galiyon ne

and the lanes of the towns all ask us,

Ke ghar kab aaoge

when will you come back?

Ke ghar kab aaoge

when will you come back?

Likho kab aaoge

Write, tell us when you’ll come,

Ki tum bin gaaon soona soona hai

for without you the towns are empty, empty.

[Chrous] . .

Sandese aate hain

Messages arrive; .

Humein tadpaate hain

they trouble us. .

To chitthi aati hai

Then letters come; .

To poochh jaati hai

they ask, .

Ke ghar kab aaoge

When will you come home? .

Likho kab aaoge

Write and tell us when you’ll come home, .

Ki tum bin ye ghar soona soona hai

For without you, this house is empty, empty. .

[Chorus]

Kabhi ek mamta ki

Sometimes with affection,

Pyaar ki ganga ki

with love, via the Ganges [sacred river],

Vo chitthi aati hai |the letter comes.

Saath vo laati hai

With it, it brings

Mere din bachpan ke

the days of my childhood;

Khel vo aangan ke

courtyard games,

Vo saaya aanchal ka

the shadow of my mother’s veil,

Vo teeka kaajal ka

her dark eye liner,

Vo lori raaton mein vo narmi haathon mein

her evening lullabyes, in those soft hands,

Vo chaahat aankhon mein vo chinta baaton mein

love in her eyes, worry in her voice;

Bigadna oopar se mohabbat andar se

outwardly with anger, inwardly with love,

Kare vo devi maa |does the (mother) goddess act.

Yahin har khat mein poochhe meri maa

In every letter my mother asks,

Ke ghar kab aaoge

when will you come home?

Ke ghar kab aaoge

when will you come home?

Likho kab aaoge

Write of when you will come,

Ki tum bin aangan soona soona hai

for without you, the courtyard is empty, empty.

[Chrous] . .

Sandese aate hain

Messages arrive; .

Humein tadpaate hain

they trouble us. .

To chitthi aati hai

Then letters come; .

To poochh jaati hai

they ask, .

Ke ghar kab aaoge

When will you come home? .

Likho kab aaoge

Write and tell us when you’ll come home, .

Ki tum bin ye ghar soona soona hai

For without you, this house is empty, empty. .

[Chorus]

Ay guzarne waali hava bata

Oh, passing wind, tell me,

Mera itna kaam karegi kya

will do you me this little favor?

Mere gaanv ja mere doston mo salaam de

Speed to my village; give greeting to my friends.

Meri gaanv mein hai jo vo gali

In my town there’s a certain lane,

Jahaan rehti hai meri dilruba

in which resides my beloved.

Usay mere pyaar ka jaam de

Give her word of my love.

Vahin thodi door hai ghar mera

A little distance from there is my home;

Mera ghar mein hai meri boodhi maa

in my home is my aged mother.

Mere maa ke pairon ko chhooke

Touch my mother’s feet,

Usay uske beta ka naam de

and speak her son’s name.

Ay guzarne waali hava zara

Oh, passing wind,

Mere doston meri dilruba

to my friends, to my beloved,

Meri maa ko mera paiyam de

to my mother, give this message.

Unhe jaake ye paigam de

Go to them and give them this message:

Main vaapas aaoonga (2)

I will return;

Phir apne gaaon mein

once more, to my town,

Usiki chaaon mein

in the shadows

Ki maa ke aanchal se

of my mother’s veil,

Gaanv ke peepal se

of the town’s peepal tree,

Kisike kaajal se

of someone’s kohl.

Kiya jo vaada tha vo nibhaoonga

The promise I made, I will honor;

Main ek din aaoonga

one day I shall come home.

In India Today Magazine few years back had read this...

"FOOTPATH  PUR  PADA  THA

WOH BHOOK SE MARA THA

KAPDA UTAAR KE DEKHA

TOH PETH PUR LIKHA THA

SARE JAHAN SE ACCHHA HINDUSTAN HAMARA"

Translation in English"

" Was lying on the ground

Had died from hunger and starvation

when the shirt was lifted/removed

it was noticed that this was written on the stomach

India is the best country in the world".

This song is praising India too much, although there are serious problems

of poverty, lack of health care, widespread insanitary conditions, etc.,

But the Govt Of India and all State Governments are trying its best to improve and resolve all these problems.

However India has made tremendous progress and I will still say and support the fact that,"Sare Jahan Se Accha Hindustan Hamara",

To this day India is still among the best countries in the world.

Ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

Kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon

Ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

Kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon

Ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

saans thamti gayi nabz jamti gayi

phir bhi badhte kadam ko na rukne diyaa

kat gaye sar hamaare to kuchh gham nahin

sar himaalay kaa hamne na jhukne diyaa

marte marte rahaa baankaapan saathiyon,

ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon

ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

zindaa rahne ke mausam bahut hain magar

jaan dene ki rut roz aati nahin

husn aur ishq donon ko ruswaa kare

aaj dharti bani hai dulhan saathiyon

zindagi maut se mil rahi hai gale

bandh lo apne sar se kafan saathiyon,

ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

Kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon

Ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

Khench do apne khoon se zameen par lakeer

Is taraf aane paaye na Raavan koyi

Tod do haath agar haath uthne lage

Chhoone paaye na Seetaa kaa daaman koyi

Raam bhi tum tumhi Lakshman saathiyon,

Ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

Kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon

Ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

Ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

Aab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

Thus did we set off friends, Having sacrificed life & limb,
The freedom now, of this land, Is but within your hands
.
The breath grew shorter, the pulse weaker,
We didn't tarry though, for respite or rest.
Countless heads rolled little did that matter,
Ultimately the Himalaya stood solidly propped up.
Though we lay dying, a smart salute was in place.

The freedom now, of this land, Is but within your hand
.
There are Springs aplenty to live & rejoice,
Yet the Winter of sacrifice cometh just this once.
'Tis a disgrace to love & beauty, youth unbathed in blood,
From never having protected a tender one.
This day when our land is an endangered bride
.
The freedom now, of this land, Is but within your hands.

Let not sacrifices idle by the wayside,
Of desperate desolate roads.
Keep redecorating the caravans,
Celebration on victory's path, is soon after.
When life & death do embrace,
Wear now then, this headband of death.

The freedom now, of this land, Is but within your hands
.
Strike unto the ground a moat in crimson red,
Lest a monster dare think trespass again.
Break his limbs, dare he extend it our way,
Let no woman think her honor's unprotected.
You are both the protector and shield dear friends,

The freedom now, of this land, Is but within your hands.
