Which political party will be the first to DEMAND the DIGITALIZING of the Indian Immigration and other records laying in a state of DECAY at the National Archives.

All the political parties should come together and make a committment before the commemoration of Indian Indentureship celebrations to get all the records digitaliized  and put on line within a year. There is a need to do something that will be concrete and lasting for future generations.Our children are beginning to ask questions about our ancestral background and we have no answers for them.

This is not a partisan political issue; it concerns all Guyanese at home and overseas as well as people from Britain and Holland whose families had links with Guyana during the colonial period. Action should focus on two things: professional preservation of the actual paper documents and digitization.

Suriname has done this and put it on line. It is a shame that Guyana has not done this yet.
