My respected brothers & sisters
On this Jummah day, the 8th day of Zil Hijja 1432, I greet everyone with Assalam O Alaikum and trust that all of us are prepared for the festival of Eid ud Adha or Bakra Eid, as it is called in Guyana.
As I am writing here right now it is already sundown in Saudi Arabia and the four million plus Pilgrims has all assembled in the tent city of Mina, awaiting the glorious day of Arafat which is tomorrow. As the guests of Allah assemble on the plains of Mount Arafat, Rasululah (uwbp) advised that those of us who are not at Hajj , fast on that day. Prophet Muhamad (uwbp) said that those who fast on that day, their sins will be forgiven for the past year and the coming year ahead.
Lets all make our intention to fast tomorrow and more so prepare our self and our family for the day of Eid which is on Sunday. Fasting is prohibited on the two days of Eid, so the practice that was done in Guyana to fast half day on the day of the Qurbani, should be discontinued.
Every nation has their festivals and for us muslims, our festival are the two Eids, so lets all observe the day with friends and family, spread joy and love and do not forget the reason why this Eid came about. It all has to do with sacrifice and obedience. The sacrifice that Prophet Abraham did and his obedience to Allmighty Allah, also the obedience of a son to his father. As we do our sacrifice of the animal on Eid day remember its not the meat nor the blood that reaches Allah but it is our intention. Let's not forget the needy and poor amongst us, for they are worthy of a part of this meat as well.
I pray that everyone have an enjoyable Eid and I further pray for all the Haji And Hajins return safely back home and Hajj Mabroor to them.
Eid Mubarak ! Eid Mubarak! Eid Mubarak!!
