FDA ALERTS WOMEN ON LIPSTICK

http://www.presstv.ir/detail/226821.html

The US Food and Drug administration (FDA) has released a list of popular lipstick shades which contain trace amounts of the toxic metal lead.

The latest federal investigation indicated higher levels of lead on a significantly wider scale of cosmetics than previously detected.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, which did an analysis of the FDA study, said the cheapest of the 400 lipsticks surprisingly had the lowest lead levels.

Five L'Oreal and Maybelline lipsticks, owned by L'Oreal USA, ranked among the top 10 most contaminated brands containing concentration of lead at 7.19 parts per million.

Two Cover Girl and two NARS lipsticks and one product from Stargazer were also among the top contaminated list.

The levels of lead detected in the 400 tested cosmetic products are 11 times more than FDA's candy limit for the toxic metal.

Lead naturally has no role in the human body but its concentration may affect vital organs including the nervous system and kidneys causing problems such as anemia, kidney failure, low IQ, weak memory and even coma and seizures.

β€œRecognizing that there is no safe level of lead exposure, we need to be protecting women and children from all levels of exposure,” said Stacy Malkan, co-founder of the campaign for Safe Cosmetics, which has long been pushing for more government-imposed limits for lead levels in lipstick.

Yep, you certainly do have a point there Abidha, as only this morning this cute chick with glossy red lipstick boarded the train and since there was a space next to me, she made herself comfortable.

As I get off the train at 34th, my friend was smiling....me, thinking that it was a complimemt, I asked him why the smile? and he said that cute chick was a man in disguise. Big Grin
