Can you do a Havan on your own?

Yes! I attended the Hindu Temple at Cove and John from 1954 to 1964
It was run by Swami Purnanandaji Maharaj of Calcutta. I used to sing Bhajans and recite the Hawan Puja under the guidance if Bramchari Govind. I actually don't do it anymore. I still have my havan books.
Why do you ask

It was near to my Grandfather's Shop by the GG Railway station. My grandfather's shop was also burned down. I have lots of memories of that school. I attended classes in the evening. The girl was also beautiful.
Look at the original Hindi song: lutela - You Tube.

It is unfortunate that the disturbances led to the displacement of so many from that area. It sounds like GG/Nabaclis was a thriving community.
Swami Purnanand was a good man. I knew him fairly well. His work in establishing a high school for the "poor" was a major accomplishment.

It was because of him I was able to attend High school. My parents had 12 children and couldn't afford the school fees (18 dollars per term)
