All, I will take leave of the board for a while or permanently if I see fit. The recent elections show Guyana is as polarized as ever. The AFC has great ideals and a great plan, but like everything else in Guyana, race and race politics trumps all. I continue to support the AFC on it's stated principles, positions and plans. We hoped to diminish the divide but has actually exposed the underlying truth.

I hope the PPP and PNC find a workable accomodation to move the country forward in the interest of all stakeholders.

Why do some people think that Guyana cannot move forward because of its racial voting pattern? The Chinese, Indians, and even some African nations are moving despite ethnic cleavages that a thousand times worst than GUyana. People, wake up and stop buying the bullshit about Guyana needs to be a perfect society to move forward. The country is moving along nicely. Lets not hold it back. The future looks great. Gerard and his friends can communicate to Guyanese living on other continents throught the internet. this is an example of how far we have come.

Keep thinking positively. Oil and Hydro coming next. Brace yourselves. Big Grin

Don't agree that Guyana is backward and I have been living out of Guyana for over 35 years and have travelled to many countries over the years.
However, I agree with you that it is not as developed as USA and Canada.

Your statement is laughable. You mean unprecedented growth as a "narco" state, an economy based on foreign remittaces by expats, one of the most corrupt nation in the Carribbean, rampant lawlessness is the order of the day.

How does it compare to other Caribbean nations in the region. Forget about USA & Canada comparison. That is an apples to oranges comparison. It is definitely ahead of Hati but not by much.

Baseman, enjoy your sojourn and return as you deem fit.

I have always expressed that, hopefully, PROGRESSIVE individuals from the PPP/C, PNCR and AFC need to come together for the betterment of Guyana.

Gerald as representative of the AFC has a right to set anyone he chose straight when they are misinformed. That should have extended to you who persist in presuming you know who is angry about this or that instead of actually focusing of pressing concerns of the society.

There is no "should see to work along" with the PPP or that the PPP way is the way to move the nation forward. To this point they made a big mess of it by institutionalizing theft and corruption and secrecy and ethnic nepotism and patronage!

With so many different types of illicit drugs everywhere in America is it fitting to call America a "Narco State"?

the guyana government help put some of those drugs in AMERICA

I could have told Baseman that that Guyanese would disappoint him, he was hoping for Blacks and Indians to come together to support the AFC. Instead we see that the PNC benefited when Indians were lured away by the AFC due to an Indian(Ramjattan) leader and the Blacks fled back to the PNC due to a Black no longer being the leader of the AFC. I stated time and time again that a vote for the AFC = a vote for the pNC and was ridiculed. Now we see the effect, now Base can't even show his face in Guyana as people feel betrayed by the AFc promises and the role he played in convincing them to vote AFC. .

The PPP came on the scene as multi-racial party crushing in its path the race-based BGEIA and LCP. Within five years the multi-racial PPP began to breakdown in two parties one representing Indos and the other Afros. Can the AFC avoiding this from happening? Maybe. Can history repeat itself? Yes, it just did in the last elections. The only difference is that one group refused to move forward and leave racial voting behind.

Another lame attempt at comedy to quickly divert attention from the idiocy passing as 'comment' on this BB

You don't have to leave because of peer pressure. Tell the AFC you didn't sign your life to them. The same way you turn to them, you can turn against them. It would be an embarrassment if Guyana stick in neutral gear because of AFC and APNU.

Given the culture in Guyana where there are two sizable parties, it looks like they will continue to dominate the government and with the new awakening of the PNC supporters coupled with the realization of AFC supporters who saw the PNC almost taking over will resort back to the PPP to try to prevent the PNC from taking over. This is by no means an indictment on the AFC. This does pose a problem regarding curruption if only a simple majority is needed to approve capital spending. In light of this it is urgently necessary to amend the constitution requiring a 2/3 majority approval.
