@Baseman:

"Anyway, regarding the Linden incident, go quarrel with Leroy Brummel.  I hope he becomes the next Commissioner." [Baseman]

is NOT a proper response to:

"BTW, "unisys" is not a word. Stop making up illiterate shit; restate, and then explain how the PNC "mass messaging" is worse than the recent Chronicle editorial" [Redux]

Your persistent resort to non sequiturs when you run out of argument is pathetic and sad!

Well, I came from mid-class, that's a bunch of BS from Jagan.  The needs of all Guyanese are there, but some priorities may be different being rich, mid-class or poor.

Everyone needs security, everyone needs a proper and adequate emergency medical system, everyone needs good roads, power and infrastructure, everyone wants a decently educated workforce, the rich for good talented workers, the mid and poor, valuable and marketable skills. Life, liberty and limb cannot be bought and sold.  This is the most basic and fundamental role of Govt from which they build.

Every successful society have it's mix of the various classes whose faiths should be made to inter-twined by effective govt policy.  Govt should not promote the culture of "class-warfare" as is the implication of such statements from Jagan.  Leaders need to be very careful with their choice of words and the impact in national psyche.

The greatest flexibility the rich have, they could sell out and move with the families anywhere and be welcome to start over and build a new.  We saw it right before our eyes in Guyana.  Where did it get us, where did it get the Govt, the mid-class, the poor?  Infact, Govt's sometimes find the rich to be undesirable as they present a counter-weight to Govt's excesses.  So they prefer a "new rich", of their own making.

FM

Baseman you are a wealthy man.  You don't have to worry about where your next meal is coming from.  It is the poor man who is trapped in poverty that has to worry about where his next meal is coming from.  Those are the people that Dr Jagan cared about.

You sound like you support the Burnham=Jagdeo=Ramotar  equation of mixed economy. The problem is in the guyana context of mixed economy, family business have extablished monopolies that stifle competition and keep the poor in place.

The AFC has become the fringe TEA party equivalent of Guyana ready to shout NO before the question is even asked.

Ha Ha ! Tea party is a proper definition of the AFC.

The fact remains:

Linden pays $ 15 per kilowatt

Berbice pays $ 53 per kilowatt

Is this fair ?

The president must stand up to the KFC and PNC on this matter and the police must not hesitate to confront violent PNC and AFC thugs.

Linden does not deserve special treatment.

The responsible thing for the PPP to do is agree in a phase-in for normal rates.

Now, tell me Caribj, Stormborn, Gerhard, God and the rest of you crya-babies, what is wrong with that?

The responsible thing for the PPP to do is what they should jahve done long ago.  And that is to address the massive unemployment and impoverishment of Linden and the rest of Region 10 that occurred with the semi collapse of the bauxite industry.

Unlike other parts of Guyana there are few alternate options available to the population.  As has been frequently pointed out to you, the poor soils do not allow agriculture as an option and care must be taken even for livestock if the water table....source of drinking water...risks contamination.

Were Linden an economically bouyant place this problem would not have occurred.  But instead ***** footing by both the PPP (as the governing party) and the PNC (which represents the area) has led to nonsensical plans aimed at mom and pop businesses which are useless in a region where there is limited consumer buying power....hence the failure of many of the business funded by LEAP.

The issue isnt the cost of electricity.  It is the ongoing economic collapse of Linden and the vast impoverishment and hopeless of those of its residents who havent abandoned the area.

A major aspect of the situation.

The PPP has spent billions of dollars to rescue Berbice's economy.  What direct plans have they to do the same for Linden?  Infrastructural development, while appreciated doesnt profduce long term jobs in a region with limited alternatives to its dying industry.

Next time you rant think about this.  Think SKELDON.  How much was spent on that factory?

I did not see your question. However, I do not agree with phased in according to some metrics that equates Linden to GT or the rest of the country.

It should be what BOSAI sells for to Linden power with marginal administrative fees.

OK so when the PPP closes down Guysuco and thousands of mainly Indian families cry for support I will look forward to all your excuses about why these "hardworking" people shouldnt be left to starve.

The sugar industry ha smost money for several years and has benefoitted from massive support.  Indeed rather than privatizing it, a sthey did to bauxite, they left it open.  They knew full well that a privately owned sugar industry would slash costs, meaning massive hardshiops. Indeed when Graingare said, prior to the elections many of you all screamed that he was a racist.

Evidently you dont like the shoe when it is on the other foot.  If sugar is proftable it will be successfully privatized....and it hasnt for reasons that you are fully aware of.
