I congratulate John Agard for his persistence and single-minded pursuit of poetry writing. He and I worked at the National Library in Guyana four decades ago. We contributed our literary efforts to the same publications. I veered off the path; he stayed. Only recently I saw a photograph showing Queen Elizabeth II presenting an award to John. He deserves it.
