You eat with your foot?

This is a scene from Guyana at a "jandi" house where people are eating in a "purine leaf" and used their "hand" as an eating utensil. Well, I have never seen such big leaves before that you can hardly see the seven curry. Ok, we can all agree on one thing that we can't run away from our culture. Many say our eating habit is disgusting, but they can**** ** ***, well, you know what.

Not to put a damper on the proceedings...but since when and why does Guyana's culture start here? Is that not a bit presumptuous?...the question is what is Guyana's culture..does it have one or does it have a communal space where many cultures meet and some mixing occurs but no homogeneity emerging? Is there a germinating hybridity in the interstitial cultural spaces per bhabha in Guyana or simply the domination of one creed of the rest?

Unfortunately, the Spanish has done it to the indigenous people of Mexico and Central America. Whites has done it to Canada and the US and East Indian is not the first culture of Guyana.

Not true, Cobra. I don't know who was the first Afro-Guyanese to receive a garland, but I know that the late Forbes Burnham used to be garlanded a lot whenever he toured predominantly East Indian communities. And that was long before Sam Hinds.
