I got this update from a call from 106th precinct this afternoon.

It is indeed sad that we are the First.

Guyanese was the first NYC in 2017 or 2016. It was on Liberty Ave. Guyanese is always first at a wedding house, rum shop, get killed or kill someone. Don't underate. them. They hold a lifetime record for every misery man can think of.

Huge age difference also. Poor woman and kids.

Ouch!!  I am trying really hard not to judge because I don't know this woman's story.  There are too many situations like this in our Guyanese community.  Women find themselves in vulnerable circumstances only to be taken advantage of by others.  The problem is when they try to run they get beaten and/or killed.  

Age difference has nothing to do with the crime. I know many good friends in a similar situation that living happily ever after. Nuff of them follow playboy, Hefner. Leave it up to Guyanese like Bibi to put a spin on the age difference. When they can't find fault on the hand, they will start to sniff other parts of the man's body to something. I know they have two kids. I am sure relatives will take care of them. This is not the first incident of this kind, so I understand the feeling because I have kids too. If the man was abusive, why didn't the woman reported him a long time ago. 26 years old is no child. She probably love the puckney until puckney kill her. This is how I call a spade a spade. Who don't like it, lump it.

A neighbor, according to the report, said the couple fought constantly, recalling one incident that ended with the battered wife leaving their home in an ambulance.

“The cops are always there,” the neighbor said. “They were always having big fights. But she still came back to him.”

Did you not read where the ambulance was called to transport the woman to the hospital after being brutalized?

Lots of women don't report abuse for a number of reasons. Maybe she is at home taking care of the kids while the man works (so reporting him affects income), maybe she is being mentally and physically abused (thus her mental state is affected), maybe she does not have family members here for support.....I don't think it's her love for puckney that would keep her in an abusive relationship.

Plus, she has been over here only 5 years living in a community that feels like you never left Guyana....

There is a thing called restraining order if ambulance had to take her or police are often called in. In her case, she would be entitled to living and food expense by the city, and (if illegal) she could claim battered spouse for immigration purposes to get her residency if she had spoken to me. (Joke). The kids would have made her eligible for public assistance. Unfortunately, today is the after of her demise. I think I know where both if you are coming from. It's not unusual.

Cobra, you don't need to try and educate me on these things. I have seen the American shores long before you. I am sure if the police were called and an ambulance had to take the woman to the hospital, there should have been some type of intervention to protect the children. The system failed and now the children must suffer.

This is a new year so don't start on the wrong foot. I and not educating you on anything. If the system failed the woman, go and fight city hall. If you're concern for the children, adopt them.

Age difference has a lot to do with Guyanese men. The older men always feel insecure. This looks like a marriage arranged for a young beautiful Guyanese girl wanting to come to America and was forced into marrying a much older man residing in America and hoping love will follow later. The other factor was the man being a brutal drunk, as Riff stated the young girl left alone to keep house while he goes out drinking and return drunk. It seems as though she has no family near by.

It's difficult to take that next step in an abusive relationship....especially if you are an immigrant

She needed help, but it's too late now

I just read the news on Facebook and saw the victims picture. I can believe that I saw both of them on several occasions in my neighborhood. As a matter of fact, the house where the they lived is four blocks from me. The guy don't look his age. I am surprised to hear he drink so hard and used cocaine. That could definitely trigger his temper to kill and commit suicide. I'll be damn.

I disagree with your assumption, Mitwah. There are good and bad in all communities, whereas NYC is more likely than others. But people will not pack up and leave because of this incident or past incidents. These are unfortunate situations for some people. It's tough to know what's going on in people's bedroom untll something like this happens.

People should not judge.  Of course, he at 46 never married and getting married to such a young lady does pose risk.  Is he even capable of dropping his old life and settling down with a wife and burdens of kids/family. Some do, but it’s an adjustment he seemed not to be able to make.

It’s always hard. She needed someone to confide in and try to intervene!   Poor couple.  I’m sure he loved her but something went off the rails and no one really knew to try to help!
