His father was Guyanese, a well respected and learned muslim. He died a few years ago in Fort Lauderdale. According to news reports this son Adnan was born in Saudi Arabia.I want to believe that he spent his childhood days in Guyana, that I am not sure about.

It is amazing how people does become Chiefs easy in these organizations. Around 911, this chap used to hang out at our mosque with that baby face. We used to pray Fajr together and after prayer used to read some passages from the ahadiths or Fiqh-us-Sunnah. I never heard him speak anything about politics, or war. He didn't even involve himself in that Comparative Religion debate battle that I did. Then suddenly I hear that they are looking for him and then he became a Chief and now he is dead. There is no glory in being militarized. After-all the famous Muslim saying is that the pen is mightier than the sword. That is what Muslims who are thinking of becoming militarized need recognized. They can better serve their religion with the pen than the sword.

While I can't vouch for him, I liked his dad a lot even from my small days in Guyana when he used to visit our masjid. I respected him to his end and was pleased that I was able to be at his funeral, I was astonished at how mush weight he lost before he died. A lot of people thought he grieved over this situation with his son.
