I first saw one of these instruments in a studio where we sometimes visit with our clients and I fell in love with it, great relaxing sound almost like a steel pan.
I would love to grab one but they go for some ridiculous prices it seems.

Imaging the time and trouble it took for us to know the guitar fret board and that is clearly marked and finite. Here this dude has nothing to tell him where the note is except the feel for it in his head. I used to hate playing Django Reinhardt gypsy guitar tunes since it was humiliating to listen to what came out of my instrument vs what he did. It took so much time to get it right. Skills like this make that seem like child's play.

I was on ebay last night and saw one being auctioned and at the time it was going for $1 so having never used ebay I signed up, got back into the site and the thing was up to $175.00. A buddy of mine called to speak to me and after we spoke (10mins)I again got back on, it was taken off, gone.

Apparently, they fetch some high prices, over 1k

D2, ever heard of a Diddley Bow? It's a one string instrument of African origin. Another strange instrument of mine that the wife picked up for me at a show late last year.
She also got me a Kalimba and a couple shakers with various designs.

She loves me.Big Grin
I have seen it. I only collect guitars. The only other musical instruments I have( besides electronic synthesizers) are a steal pans (lead and guitar pans) I do have lots of harmonicas but that is where my collection of instruments ends. My wife does not know guitars but she goes with me as I browse pawn shops etc for vintage guitars.
