What is a good program that I can purchase to clean my PC? Dell is trying to sell me one for $299 for 2 years. I see some online for just a few bucks per year. Are they any good or necessary? Thanks.

No, I have McAffee and Microsoft Security Essentials for that. I am talking about software (CClean, etc.) that clean the computer of all kinds of junk that's unwittingly accumulated/stored and which slow down the computer.

You don't need software for that. Windows can do that.
Ask d2 to confirm.

Defrak is always needed for hard drive, or else yu only need floppy
Be careful with many of these programs you see advertised online. Some of them are malware themselves.
Use Supercleaner for most cleaning. It can empty the dustbin, clean out the browser cache etc.
For registry cleaning, stick to the one from Microsoft. But if you must have something more advanced, try Advanced Uninstaller. It has a range of cleaning tools to keep your PC up to scratch.

You are on the right track with CClean. Uninstall every piece of software you do not want before you do the clean. Then it can correct the registry problems as well. Check all the boxes on cclean except the wipe box as that takes too long to complete.quote:Originally posted by Errol Arthur:quote:Originally posted by TI:
