A policeman, who was attached to the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), in Bartica was killed during the pre-dawn hours of Sunday moments after a friend sought his assistance in a road accident. Dead is Constable Forde.

Demerara Waves Online was told that Forde received a call from one of his friends whose car was involved in a collision with another car on Third Avenue, Bartica. A truck was about to hit his friend’s girl-friend. But on pushing her out of the way, the truck knocked him down and he died. The truck driver has been detained by police.

Bartica is a gold-mining township located about several miles south-west of Georgetown, the capital of Guyana.
