How are things?

I read a few books about the case of a girl Roop Kanwar in 1987 in Deorala, Rajasthan. It was murder camouflaged as Sati. 18-year-old Roop was married to a 23-year-old who committed suicide because twice he failed the exams to enter med school. Then the in-laws drugged her and put her on the funeral pyre with him to burn while thousands watched and had a carnival to drown out her screams. The in-laws brainwashed everyone that the girl committed voluntary Sati, they even brainwashed the girl's family. Those Rajputs are something else, really dangerous people. Over 500,000 people have visited the Sati site. Politicians, the Rajasthan Chief Minister, police, 3 castes: the Rajputs, Brahmins and Banias were involved in a huge moneymaking scheme to build a temple and make the Sati site a pilgrimage site. The in-laws got the dowry and about US$160,000 in donations. Have you heard about it or been to Rajasthan? My sis had a Jaipur penpal and wanted to marry, thank god we talked her out of it.
