Nehru, I haven't seen any of the three you listed.
Madras Café- if I ever come across this one, I'll watch it. I generally skip over the songs in movies. IMO, the songs are just thrown in without any real connection to the plot.

SOngs are not just thrown in...songs are the driving force behind successful Bollywood movies
i haven't watched one in a couple years, but I enjoy the tunes
Without songs, Bollywood dead, cause 98% of their movies are pretty much standard fare
Ray, I can't remember the last time I watched an Indian movie either - they are pretty predictable.
From the top of my head, the ones that made an impression on me...
Lagaan
The City of Joy
Slum Dog Millionaire
Strangely, I remember the songs from Sangam.
Wasn't that song with the white woman in Lagaan out of place?

City of Joy andSLumdog are not Bollywwod movies...I think the songs in Lagaan were fine (didn't feel they were out of place)
Bollywood movies have changed over the years, not too wishy washy with great story lines. I saw one called Kai Po Che. Great movie.
ray is right, songs do tend to draw crowds to a movie.
