The south africans uses this tactic for decades to control the black population, using their own black folks to keep them in check.  In this scenario thought, the results were justified, now govt needs to target the instigators and put them behind bars. Hopefully these deaths will not be in vain, those intent on stopping progress will think twice about their destructive behavior in fear of gunshot.

Are you saying the PPP are like the south Africans or the morons who murdered these people were mere pawns to move a policy that is in place? Don't stumble over your own inane argumentation.

The PPP are a corrupt government so for good to come from them is to ask of the devil your due. Further, these people are not tools. They are victims of a police culture and an undemocratic and authoritarian habit cultivated by the PPP these past 20 years.

What an inane thing to say? Where is there one iota of evidence that ones political view as to fairness and equity in a system is to be construed as riotous?

It is sad that you assign yourself as guru in matters pertaining to Guyana when you are so removed and oblivious to the runnings down there. There is big money behind the interior trade and the afc/pnc have much to gain from unrest as the impact would be financial. It would not surprise me if it turns out that the afc/pnc agents were the ones firing live shots to instigate political unrest.

The GoG is using the constitutionally sanctioned forces to ensure law and order is maintained.  It matter not their race, creed or religion.  You cannot cry "extra-juducial" here.

The joint forces who happen to be majority Black were doing an honorable task of keeping the passage way to the interior open. You folks are taking lessons from the Taliban in Pakistan, blocking the major arteries to disrupt the economy. So you get gunshot up your rear and now you complain. A few more lessons will make them think twice. The PPP are outsmarting you fools at every turn, they will tame you just the same way they did to the Buxtonians who were pursuing a similar tactic on the East Coast.

It's a principled, but simplistic statement.  Good Govt's are sworn to protect life, limb and property of the people.   I'm not judging the people who lost their lives, but surely, you must know, even heaven was propelled to cast out lucifer.

Now, then tell me, which country you believe have a " not bad" government?

A dog is a man's best friend. If you believe in animal cruelty, why are you complaining about our best friends who got killed in Linden?

You have to be a horses ass if not the horse's manure for saying the above. Look at the face of the kid below. Is he your dog? Do you know the joy he produced in his family when he was born? Do you know of his promise, his talents, his gifts to the world while alive  or  the investment of his parents that he may live a good life  or what empty place is in their hearts now that he is gone? What makes you think you are his better?

What manner of vile creature are you that you think yourself so far above these people and you now recast yourself as some new Brahmin in our land? Do you not know from whence you came and from what dark place you rose to light in this world?

Remember that for 15 hundred  generations  our ancestors were not even counted as dogs. In 4 generation in a new place  you stand a man. Be thankful for where you are; your ancestors in india still are not yet dogs so it is quite pathetic you think this boy a dog.

The point is that even if they were throwing projectiles they are not to be fired on. It could have precipitated endless violence in our society. You have the ME today to see what large fires a small spark can start.

But that being aside you are parrotting a line that is unsubstantiated. I spoke to my cousin who was on that bridge and I believe him when he said there was some cussing and yelling but no one provoked the police. They issued commands threw gas canisters and then charged.

The crowd resisted and begin to throw whatever they could at them. They should have backed away, set a perimeter and group using some alternative strategy to clear the bridge. Live fire was not the way to go. If indeed the crowd came armed for a fight some of them would be casualties and more guns would have been in the wrong hands.

They were not Gandhi and no one should expect them to be.  If they were quarrelsome and even if the threw rocks and blocked the streets the government security forces is out of line to kill them. Remember society is a social contract. Administration and the people select to abide by a principle to let the administration adjudicate differences. They do not have supreme authority to do as they please. If any side of the contract fails we have mayhem.

The video that you all showed as proof showed VERY casual and relaexed cops watching a few fire tear gas, after the very COLONIAL style Riot ACt was made.  As we know from our history of anti colonial struggle, this was followed by a volley of bullets, THE SAME AS WHEN YOUR HERO KOWSILLA was killed.

Its amazing how racists like you have different criteria when black people, who you clearly hate, are the ones protesting.

REFUSAL TO OBEY A police order isnt reason to shoot people.  The stone thrpowing began AFTER people were shot and the crowds enraged, as indeed your PPP video indicates.  It showed no evidence of the police having to protect themselves from attack.  It did show voices from motorists waiting to cross warning about the likelihood of tear gas and worse.

No she was fighting because the PPP told her to strike to create an environment of instability to ensure that the 1964 elections were canceled.

So does that mean she should have been shot, even though many might have questioned her motives?

And more relevant, do you think that Lindeners wanting cheap electricty is an excuse for their murder?

You are trying to divert the discussion.  Had the protest continued with no attacks we would not be having this discussion.

Kowsilla took part in the January 1964 march to protest the Proportional Representation stipulated by Duncan Sandys.

Perhaps, the Duncan Sandys suspected as the 'headless man' whose identity was concealed during the questionable divorce of the Duchess of Argyll.

It is a  historical fact that when the PPP feared a 1964 election would bring a PNC/UF coalition they tried their best to create an atmosphere of instability.  It is a documented fact that both the PNC and the UF, who definitely wanted a 1964 election, protested against the actions of the PPP to prevent this.

An important part of this strategy by the PPP was to foster unrtest in the sugar belt.  So Kowsilla was being used by the PPP for their own ends.  The same thing that you now accuse the AFC of doing.

So if the slaughter of the 4 Linden martyrs can be justified by you so will others justify the murder of Kowsilla...part of the same criminal actions by a police force angered by the brazeness of people who disobeyed their order to move.

Do not be so lost in your reading that you mistake text for context

Guyana's political instability rested on colonial manipulation of competing groups ethnic groups. This came to a head in '57 as the groups begin to define themselves along differing political ideologies based on their leadership advocacy.

The US did not think it can live another Cuba so the CIA was used to magnify the dispute by taking sides against the PPP and ensured they lost. The instability was seeded a long time before they took an interest.

Your history of Guyana is absent.  The CIA created instability in 1962/63 to destabilize the COMMUNIST PPP. Having achieved their goals they favored a 1964 election, knowing full well that a PPP/UF coalition would win.

You will need to inform us about why the PPP called for strikes and violence in the sugar belt (hundreds of Africans attacked and their homes burnt) if they didnt wnat to create an unstable environment, hoping that the 1964 elections would then be canceled.

Of course you will deny that Castro provided ample training and weapons to the PYO, but then we who lived in G/town remember full well when a shipment from Cuba fell off a boat and guns tumbled out.

So you see the CIA intervened in Guyana, working with the PNC and the UF.  The USSR and Cuba did the same, workng with the PPP.  All having to do with Cold War politics.
