And this is sound economic development policies by the PPP?  To guarantee that Guyanese face discrimination in their own country (now it appears as if its not only blacks having this problem)?  So as a result will continue to face high unemployment, being forced to flee to islands where they are hated, or scrounge around selling clothes on the pavement?

So which PRIVATE sector interests own and control NICIL?

To my knowledge there are at least as many PPP supporters who are likely to be involved in construction, if the PPP didnt have an extreme hatred for BOTH non Indians and non elite Indians.

But I see that you admit that more and more Indians are now fleeing to the AFC, so you can brand the Africans, mixed, and Indians who are being deprived of a lucrative constrcution job for being AFC/APNU supporters.

Read the fine print, only a select model will be made here to appease their customers and the president. When I see all macs being manufactured on US shores I will believe it.

The same policy the US makes when it outsourced all the American flags used in the inauguration to be made in Belgium.  In fact the sound economic policy by NICIL(not the PPP) was saving 14M usd.

And I bet that if some one made mention of US flags being made in Belgium and not the USA there would have been howls of rage at a time when many US workers are unemployed.  The fcat that they did this doesnt make it right.

Who owns NICIL?  Explain to the Ministry of Finance why they are wrong and you are right.

Obama said that Macs will be made in the USA.  He did not say that ALL Macs will be made here.  Fact is that NONE currently are, so this is progress.

Druggie what are Guyanese supposed to do.  The PPP (through its orgain NICIL which falls under Ashni Singh a PPP minister) has deprived Guyanese of work.  Yet he has used their money to guarantee that if the hotel fails private investors will recoup 100% of their investment.  He did not ask Guyanese for permission to do so.

Do you think that it is right for Guyanese top protect private investors who refuse to take any risk for this project and then be told that they are too lazy to be allowed to be given an OPPORTUNITY?  Given the wholesale take over of Guyana by Chinese we will soon have no Guyanese ownership of business, nor any jobs.

Do you think that if Guyanese migrated to China they will be so favorably treated?  I think not as China is not noted to be hospitable to immigrants (ask the North Koreans who try to live there).

Ask the PNC who set up Nicil, also note that board of directors which includes an opposition member are the ones making the decisions. Not "the ppp". Who is this opposition member on the board that keeps quiet?

National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL)

NICIL was incorporated as a Private Limited Company under the Companies Act, Chapter 89:01 in July 1990. A new Companies Act was enacted in 1991 with effect from May 1995 by the Companies Act (Commencement) Order, No. 25 of 1995 and NICIL was registered as a continuing company pursuant to Section 339 of the new Act in 1998. NICIL is 100 percent owned by the Government of Guyana.

The primary objectives of the company were that of subscribing for, taking or otherwise acquiring, holding and managing the Government’s shares, stocks, debentures or other securities of any company, co-operative societies or other corporate body. This meant that all Government shareholdings in public corporations and companies including those falling under the Public Corporations Secretariat, and the Co-operative Finance Administration Institutions were to be transferred to NICIL. The objective was to have a unified and systematic management of Government’s shareholdings.

NICIL engages in many activities such as:
· being the holding company for Government owned minority/majority interests,
property management which includes the acquisition / disposal / rental of Government owned properties,
· Monitoring Government’s equity in other companies and acting as agents for other Government agencies in the disposal of properties or management of companies.

NICIL has a Board of Directors that consists of Minister of Finance, the Head of the Presidential Secretariat, the CEO of Go-Invest, an opposition representative and the Executive Director of NICIL.

NICIL is a statutory corporation OWNED by the govt of Guyana.  Note that the board consists MAINLY of govt appointees, with token representation of the govt.  It is  a govt corporation in the same way as Guysuco is.

I take it that, either you didnt read your post, or cant understand it.  Every thing about it screams GOVT OWNERSHIP!

The board of directors are all government appointees, excluding the single oppostion rep.  You do know that Go Invest is another govt entity.  Maybe one of the few not headed by an Indian.

So they are as is the head of the police force and head of gdf and the many other govt entities. However this does not mean that they are puppets of "the PPP", you never give them the benefit of the doubt.

But for sure, the must be doing a good job as we see major projects being fulfilled to the chagrin of the opposition in whose case, what is good for Guyana is bad news for them.

Sometimes the guys crack you so hard on the head to disipline you to correct thinking I grimace at the sound and know you hurt badly. At other times you stumble on your own clumsy, ungainly, spindly legs and you hit the deck so hard with your head I wonder how come you get back up.

This is an instance of the latter. Today, legislation emerge to assert the independence of the prosecutor's office, elections commission and a couple of others. The OP are squealing like a stuck pig about their loss of control and authority over these bodies. They are clamoring, of course, on what they perceive as  the dilution of the powers  the dictator's constitution affords them.

The President is an executive president, his cabinet are his creatures, every agency in the state is his to do with as he please; he can summarily fire or hire whomever he pleases. He is our elected regent and rules as such. Jagdeo is responsible for all the dodgy deals resulting from  government agencies failing or becoming corrupt.

I am all for proper oversight of the use of the people's money and resources. However the proof is in the pudding, Guyana is flourishing, how do you explain to the people that their leadership is evil when the lives of most Guyanese have seen massive improvements? The govt must be doing something right!

My point exactly.  Jagdeo APPOINTED the current heads of the GDF and the Police force.  He definitely selected Roger Luncheon and the head of Go Invest.  Brassington is a soup licker who drank PNC soup, and now drinks PPP soup.

So whats your point?  One token opposition rep cannot offset the hordes of PPP appointees.

This is a scam by the PPP to benefit wealthy PPP supporters using tax payers in case this deal fails.  These giys learnt very well from Wall Street about how to defraud tax payers by getting them to fund a bail out if their scams fail.  And yes the private investors in Marriott will be BAILED out if the hotel fails.

Pity Mr Brandford with his Choice Hotel couldnt get such a deal.

Wow.  The PPP forces gold prices to rise astronomically and overseas Guyanese to support their relatives.  Only a simpleton like you would believe it.

Druggie the growth is in trhe mining sector, mainlky gold.  And in residential real estate and the retail sectors, all of which are supported by remittances.  Were there not massive investment by overseas Guyanese in real estate, either directly or through their relatives, that sector would be much mlore dormant than  it is oday.  Just note how how prices are and the fact that many, when selling, quote in US$.

Bloomberg appointed Ray Kelley. And similar to the US Guyana's president appoints the head of police and army with the consent of the opposition. Note that both head of police and army are PNC supporters and actively engage in actions against the ruling party. You keep selling lies but no one is buying.

How many car companies, banks and insurance companies got bailed out in the US during the financial crisis? Many of you amateurs try to sell lies to the Guyanese public because you think people are ignorant, but with today's access to information over the internet and TV, your lies are easily debunked.
