Kapil Sharma says Kis Kisko Pyaar Karu required more work on his fitness than his acting skills
Having found fame and name by his comic act on the small screen, Kapil Sharma is all set to make his debut on the silver screen. After winning The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Kapil has never looked back and this week we will see him leading the show in Abbas Mustan’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karu (KKPK).
Recently in the Capital, Kapil is optimistic about the film and gives a threat in his funny way. “Jo meri film nahin dekhega, usko bhagwaan dekhega!”.
With a straight face he says, “There are so many movies on social issues like Mardaani and Gabbar is Back but it is undeniable that people do look forward to clean and light hearted comedy as well. We have made a clean comedy and it’s made for entertainment purpose,” he said.
While many feel that Kapil is taking his show to theatres, the actor says the film rides on the story. “The hero of this film is the story which is so different that the audience is bound to notice it and spread the word.”
There is no big heroine opposite him but Kapil seems undaunted.. “It doesn’t matter who you debut with, what matters is the content of the project. All the heroines in the movie have worked really hard,so I think our film will stand out for its content and cast.”
Describing his role in KKPK, he says, “It is just like me (laughs) and is very lovable. Married to three women against his will, he loves all of them equally.” He confesses having enjoyed working with four female co-actors in the film. And if you think there is only comedy in the film, Kapil shares with us that there are a couple of emotional turns in the script as well.
Kapil who spares no punches on paunches had to face music when he had to join gym to loose weight for the movie. He quips, “I didn’t do a lot of preparation for this project apart from the gym. There are many actors who do a lot of research work to study the character thoroughly but for me it was easy to grasp what the character is all about because the traits are so similar to what I am in real life and itsuited me so well that I pulled it off quite easily.” It was the gym part that required training.
On a serious note, the actor attributed hard work and honesty as the key to his success. He believes in giving his best for everything without getting over concerned about competition which is inherent in any field.
The directors said besides them their families are avid viewers of Kapil’s show and that they had a great time working with him. Kapil said whenever he made suggestions, they would discuss leading to improvisation. “They are very supportive and they believe in moving forward with the times,” signs off Kapil.
