Despite all the buzz, the Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor wedding remained a very private affair, and the media got the peeks of the happenings inside the wedding and reception only through the photos posted online by the friends of the couple.

Now, a wedding album photo of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in their wedding dresses -- Saif in a Benarasi brocade achkan and Kareena in the ancestral gharara of the Khans -- has surfaced, clicked by the ace photographer Avinash Gowariker.

Saif’s outfit was designed by the designer Raghavendra Rathore while Kareena’s traditional gharara was redone by Ritu Kumar.

In the pic, Saif looks every bit a royal with a pagdi and a sword.

Happy Marriage

The D-Day has finally come. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are going to get married today, October 16, five years after they started dating each other. It’s been a long, steady, romantic relationship that deserves a look back.

The biggest wedding of the year is here. It may, however, not have the pomp and show of a big fat Bollywood wedding because both Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have settled for a registered marriage followed by a nikah and wedding reception. Kareena would wear the same lehenga that Sharmila Tagore wore on her wedding about 40 years ago. The lehenga is being re-embellished by Bebo’s favourite designer Manish Malhotra. On the other hand, fashion designer Raghavendra Rathore has created a Benarasi brocade 'achkan' for Saif. The outfit has been designed after taking references from Mansoor Ali Khan’s wardrobe.

A LOVE STORY

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor began dating in 2007. Talking about how she fell for Saif, Kareena revealed in an interview: “We were in Ladakh to shoot Tashan. I had just broken up with Shahid Kapoor. Even though I had met Saif socially, we hadn’t spoken much. When I spotted him near the hotel pool, he was tanning on a lounge chair, clad in just jeans. I told my friend, “Oh my God… he’s so hot!...After our first shot, we chatted and he made me laugh a lot. I hope it always stays that way. Today, we are best friends. I hope marriage only adds to what we share.”

Not just this, Kareena also spoke about how Saif met her mother to talk about the relationship.

“So, he came and met my mother and told her, ‘She’s my woman, I want to spend the rest of my life with her. We want to live together…’ My mom was pretty cool about it. I just got my stuff together and that was it. No fuss,” Kareena said.

When asked about the moment Saif Ali Khan said those three words “I Love You” to her, Kareena responded: “Actually, he never really said it… he isn’t that romantic,”

First Film Together

A lot of people mistakenly think that Tashan was Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s first film together. Incorrect. The duo first worked together in JP Dutta’s 2003 war drama LoC: Kargil.

Romance

In August 2007 came the first rumour that Saif and Kareena were dating. At that time, Kareena had just broken up with Shahid Kapoor even though her movie Jab We Met with Shahid was due to release in October. Saif and Kareena were first spotted together while shooting for Tashan on the streets of Mumbai. That was the start of their romance.

Tattoo

In no time, Saif Ali Khan, smitten with his ladylove, got Kareena’s name tattooed on his forearm and he made no effort to conceal it from the world. Literally wearing his heart on his sleeve.

First Kiss

Saif and Kareena first locked lips on camera in their 2009 film Kurbaan. The kiss became the talk of the town, but could not save the film from flopping.

I wanna marry Bebo

In 2009, Saif Ali Khan made the first admission that he wants to marry Kareena Kapoor. He even went on to say that if he had his way, he would marry her the next day. But Kareena had a career to take care of.

Holidays

Almost every year since they started dating, Saif and Kareena take time off to holiday for a few days or even weeks. Their favourite holiday destination is Switzerland. In fact, it was recently joked that Kareena and Saif have already had their 249 honeymoons. The 250th one would be after their marriage.

Padamshree

In 2010 when Saif was awarded the Padam Shri civilian award, Kareena was by his side.

Polo

Kareena was by Saif’s side when he was anointed the 10th Nawab of Pataudi a few months ago after the passing away of his father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. The two were later seen enjoying the Polo match. Saif has endorsed the game.

I wanna marry Saif

Finally, on March 16, 2012, at India Today Conclave, Kareena Kapoor spoke for the first time about her plan of getting married with Saif. She said she might marry him by the end of 2012.

The couple had their sangeet ceremony on October 14.
