A Grasim Mr India (1999) first runner-up title holder, Rakesh Bapat, made his screen debut together with Himanshu Malik in Anubhav Sinha's 'Tum Bin'(2001). After starring in a few average films like 'Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar' in 2002 and 'Koi Mere Dil Mein Hai' in 2005, Rakesh failed to make a mark at the box-office and decided to turn towards television. Shiney Ahuja or Roshan Ahuja, a Delhi based model turned actor made his debut in Mishra's 'Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi' (2003). He won the best new comer Film fare and Zee cine awards for his portrayal in the film. Earlier he did ads for Park Avenue, Peter England, Raymonds, Cadbury etc and was involved with theatre. Tremendously talented, Ahuja's previous movies include 'Karam' (2005), 'Sins' (2005) and 'Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow' (2005). Shiney took the audience by storm with his spectacular performance as a mobster on the run, in his recent release 'Gangster' (2006). Ahuja's career is 'rocking' these days and he already has many releases such as Yash Raj Films 'Fanaah' (2006), Metro (2006) and more film's lined up' Zindagi rocks' with Sushmita Sen, 'Woh Lamhe', 'Bahut Nikle Mere Armaan' etc

A well-established model today, Rajneesh has done about 70 shows with leading designers like J.J.Valaya, Tarun Tahilani, Ravi Bajaj etc. He also won the Kingfisher award for the best model. It's not a useful exercise to compare actors from different generations. It would be comparing, say, Marlon Brando with Brad Pitt.
Having said that it is not a stretch to say that one actor has transcended all eras - Amitabh Bachan.
Regarding this generation of actors - the under 30 and over 30 males - none comes close to Amir Khan for his range of acting. One to watch is Ranbir Kapoor and Amir's nephew Imran Khan. Shah Rukh has been a box office king, but his acting has been combined with a star quality. His acting tends to be one-dimensional. His best roles are like the one in Chak de India. Saif Ali Khan has to be among the top male actors of this era. Two other Khans are worth mentioning - Salman and Irfaan. The latter is a favorite with American producers - see his role in the HBO series a year ago and the movie New York, I love you.
Regarding the females Vidya Balan is my Meryl Streep. Kareena has star quality and is a seriously good actress. Rani Mukherji is a notable and her role in Black is unforgettable.
