Our Story
Hi! We're the Lady Jags, Guyana's National Women's Soccer Team. We are very excited to continue this journey for a chance to represent Guyana at the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
The Lady Jags were created and launched in June 2009 at the Turks and Caicos Islands Women's Football Festival. The team was entered into the 2011 World Cup and incredibly advanced to the last stage of qualifying - The CONCACAF Championships in Cancun, Mexico in 2010 before being eliminated. This creates history for Guyana as no other team male or female had ever achieved such success in soccer.
This success was the launching pad for female football in Guyana and also established a level of professionalism that was unparalleled. The men followed up this performance with a great run in World Cup qualifying 2 years later while the U17 and U20 Lady Jags were subsequently created. The Lady Jags are now entered into Olympic 2016 qualifying and kicks off their campaign in August 2015 against St Kitts and Cuba in the Dominican Republic. The Lady Jags are excited for the opportunity to go back to the CONCACAF Championships and have an opportunity to qualify for the Olympics in Rio, Brazil in 2016.
Here are some articles that have been published recently about our team:What We Need
Most of our team is made up of players of Guyanese heritage residing in Canada, the US and the UK. Therefore, we are looking to help cover our travel and lodging expenses, as many of our players are taking time off from work, school, and family to participate in the program.
Because the campaign is comprised of several tournaments as part of the qualifiers, we anticipate lots of travel expense and time away from work.

Other Ways You Can Help
If you can, help us spread the word to as many people in your circles including family, friends, colleagues, and fellow Guyanese. We appreciate every bit of support as it can only bring us that much closer to our goal!
