It was not just the channa---it was that sweet, delectable "salsa" like sauce that Ms Bettencourt made and put on top of that channa that made it awesome. You're right! Best channa I ever tasted.

Portello trivia: I can't remember drinking Portello in the 1950s; I remember seeing a case of empty Portello bottles in my grandfather's home at that time.

Portello is still consumed in some countries, sometimes with the Fanta label.

The lemonade truck would get stuck on muddy streets and after assisting to push it out, we would be rewarded with bottles of lemonade.

Christopher the baker, did the same with his bread van.

Lime wash was an everyday drink at lunch. It was so refreshing.

I remember a lemonade truck from the Correntyne that would deliver to Canje. I think the company was Jai Jairam and Sons from Rose Hall. They were down the street next to Anthony's Inn.

Guyana's main international airport is named after a Guyanese man. When the airport started operating, it was named after a foreigner. Give the full name of that foreigner and his nationality and give the exact date when the airport was officially opened. Winner is the first person with all three answers correctly. Your answer suggests the nationality. As I mentioned before, always read each quiz carefully.

I found the year 1671 the Abary River became the

boundary due to some disagreement to establish a

trading post in Demarara river.

Follow me, folks.

Demerara's eastern boundary = Berbice's western boundary.

If Riya didn't learn geography, at least she should know geometry.

Django says 4128 months = 344 years = the year 1671.

Anjali says 4121 months = 343 years + 5 months = 1672.

Wikipedia says: "In 1672, under an arrangement between the Commander of Essequibo and the Secretary of the Government of Berbice, it was agreed that the Abary River would be the western boundary of the Colony of Berbice."

My history book says 1672.

I am giving Anjali first prize.

Django gets second prize.

Congrats!!

As I mentioned before, history books don't all agree on dates.

FM

THE BEGINNING OF THE COLONY OF BERBICE

Meanwhile, the Berbice administration attempted to expand the size of the colony by establishing a trading post as far west as the Demerara River. At that time the Demerara area was unoccupied, but the West India Company objected to the presence of the trading post after claiming that the Demerara River fell under its jurisdiction. The trading post was then moved in 1671 to the Abary River which eventually became the boundary of Berbice and Demerara.

Okay Django, let's level. The trading post was set up in 1671.

The word "eventually" could not refer to 1671. In this instance, "eventually" was 1672 but Odeen Ishmael was too lazy to check.

Long ass bus ride, I wish I did drive it would have taken under six hours, the bus took 8hrs to get there and on the way back stoppped in North Bay for one hr making it a nine hr trip back.

It was for my daughter's grad she passed with honours from Northern College. While there, I saw a Navita Ramdas from Guyana who came up to get her papers, she apparently works in a mine in Guyana and did the course through correspondence, she took three awards, one was for student with the highest academic standing in the Mining Engineering Tech Program, another for higest mark in Field Mapping.

I never got a chance to speak with her, she disappeared right after the ceremonies.

Just thought I'd throw the name out there in case anyone knows her.
