The longer one lives, the more one learns.

So it was with me early this morning while reading "Doctor Zhivago".

I encountered the word "ligature" and decided to look it up in the dictionary.

What caught my eyes was the next word:

liger, a hybrid between a male lion and a female tiger.

I scratched my head. Me nah bin know papa lion does do da ting wid mama tiga.

Below that definition, I saw "Related word":

tigon, an offspring of a male tiger and lioness.

Hmmm... well, they equalize the affair.

You tek me mate, I gon tek yuh mate too.

This Liger and Tigon thing has me thinking.

Using the same naming method, the offspring of a black male and indian female should be "blacind" and that of an indian male and black female should be "indibla". Who came up with "dougla"?

Similarly, the offspring of a coolie male and portuguese female should be "coolport".

And so on....
