* Ali McGraw has aged very nicely.

* Sure she has some wrinkles.

* So what ?

* Some women/men are old at 30, while others are young at 70.

* It's all in the mind---the mind is a master weaver.

* The fruits of old age are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and goodness.

* If Ali McGraw has those ageless traits---she'll forever be young in the soul---and more beautiful than ever.

Rev

PS. How about you gilbakka---at age 62---do you have those traits listed above ?

Rev:

I have sinned and transgressed the commandment of the Lord.

It would be better if others say whether I have the traits you listed.

What I can tell you is this: before the stroke struck me down last year some persons told me I was aging gracefully.

Even at age 60 I was getting unsolicited smiles from female strangers in public places.

I used to be a tall good-looking Kshatriya but I've aged tremendously the past year alone.

Whereas before I was proud to share my likeness on Facebook, after the stroke I've forbidden visitors from taking snapshots of myself. I even closed my Facebook account.

I prefer everyone to remember me the way I was.

Gilly, haven’t we all sinned? Nobody is perfect.

About those traits that Senor Rev mentionedâ€Ķit is my humble opinion that you have exhibited those traits here on Social as evidenced by your style of writing, your book recommendations, the photos you used to post, and the manner in which you respond to other posters.

Our lives can change in the blink of an eye or with the snap of our fingers.  Based on your sincere description above, one can tell that the stroke made a profound impact on you physically. Please allow me to be boldâ€Ķdon’t let the physical changes allow your spirit to age. As you already know, what we feel on the inside manifests on the outside.

Although we get caught up initially in physical appearance, we really connect with others on a different level. People will remember you not for the way you were before the stroke, but for the way you made them feelâ€Ķthe small or big impact you made on their lives.

Take a look at this guy:

* That is Professor Stephen Hawking---described as the greatest living scientist.

* Dr. Hawking suffers from ALS and is almost completely paralyzed.

* But he hasn't allowed his physical handicap to curtail his spirit---he is as productive today as he was before his disease.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Hawking

BOTTOM LINE:

* You were dealt a bad hand when you suffered that stroke gilbakka.

* But you are not alone---there are millions of others who have been dealt bad hands--and many are worse off than you.

* Listen! YOU CAN CHOOSE TO FEEL SORRY FOR YOURSELF and be negative and depressed.

* Or like Professor Hawking---you can accept your fate---and thank god for your other blessings.

* As long as your heart beats Gilbaka---that is a blessing.

* You are a good man gilbakka---bad things sometimes happen to good people---don't allow your physical setbacks to crush your soul and your spirit.

* CHANGE YOUR MINDSET.

* Borrow a page from Dr. Hawking---trick your mind into being more upbeat---you had a good sense of humor before the stroke---well, bring back that sense of humor----start laughing more---even at stupid things.

* Like I said---you were dealt a bad hand---but that was God's will for you----accept it----don't feel sorry for yourself----count your blessings---and start having fun again---mentally.

* Borrow a page from Dr. Stephen Hawking book.

Generally I'm okay, Rev.

I stated I'm bothered about losing my fine physical appearance during the past year only because you asked.

Otherwise, as you can see from my combative but chivalrous spirit on GNI, I'm carrying on bravely.

Now, let's return to Ali MacGraw, please.

* I have seen that "combative but chivalrous" spirit in your posts.

* Glad to know you're fighting on.

* By the way, do you follow cricket ? I just finished looking at the West Indies get slaughtered in 3 days by New Zealand.

The Getaway, that's the movie.

Ali married Steve the next year and had to get away from him 5 years later.

Kshatriya are warriors, strong and bold. Arjuna was a Kshatriya. According to the Mahabharta, Kshatriyas were constantly being enticed by women. Some fell to the spell of the magic of beautiful women.
