Makkah Clock Fairmont Hotel wins best 2011 landmark title
MAKKAH β Makkah Clock Fairmont Hotel has been designated as worldβs best hotel landmark for the year 2011. The achievement was announced Saturday at a function in Katara Cultural Village in Doha, Qatar where names of the winners of global travel awards for 2011 were also announced.
The recognition comes only a few months after the hotel was named as the best in the Middle East region.
Over 213,000 travel agents and tourist companies and organizations from 160 countries voted and Makkah Clock Fairmont received the highest number of votes in the category of the best hotel landmark in the world.
Muhammad Arkobi, Deputy Director of Fairmont Raffles Group Management in Makkah, said: βWe have created a new trend for hospitality industry on the national and international levels from the heart of Makkah, the cradle of Islam.β
