Nagamootoo’s padded resume exposed as falsehoods

CHARACTER, policies and a track record ought to constitute the benchmarks against which political players are judged, heading into the upcoming May 11 General and Regional Elections.
People’s Progressive Party/ Civic member, Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, expressed this view at a news conference held at Freedom House, where he responded to the litany of positive traits with which Moses Nagamootoo crowned himself.
FALSE CLAIMS
The prime ministerial candidate of A Partnership for National Unity + Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) coalition, at a rally held at Whim, Region 6 (East Berbice Corentyne) claimed, among other things, that he was nominated twice for national awards by the late former president, Dr. Cheddi Jagan.
“I declined the nominations and I said to Dr. Jagan and to the leadership of the PPP that when my public life is over, then I shall think whether or not I deserve to be honoured by my nation,” he said.

Nagamootoo claimed that he refused salary increases, since public servants earned less.
“I was the first Minister who refused to accept increase in my salary unless, as I said to the Cabinet, the Government could pay more to nurses and teachers,” he said.
The APNU+AFC prime ministerial candidate also chatted about decisions he took which favoured the interest of the Guyanese people, when he chaired Cabinet.
Nagamootoo also touted the fact that he resigned as part of the governing party’s ranks, drawing references to national interests.

LIES EXPOSED
These were only some of the claims he made at Whim, according to Dr Ramsammy, who dismantled them all.
According to him, Nagamootoo did resign twice from the party, first in 1995 and then in 1997; however, Dr. Ramsammy made it clear that resignations were the result of an ultimatum given to him by the party’s leadership.
The PPP/C member explained that in 1995, Nagamootoo wanted to maintain his ministerial post and complete his degree at the University of Guyana, but he was asked by Dr Jagan to make a choice, since he could not do both full-time simultaneously.
“He resigned,” Dr. Ramsammy said.
Two years later, under the late former president, Mrs. Janet Jagan, he was given a similar ultimatum when he wanted, again, to hold the post of Minister of Local Government and attend the Hugh Wooding Law School.
“He resigned again,” the PPP/C member said.
On the question of chairing Cabinet, Dr. Ramsammy was adamant that there are no records this ever happened, as was the case with the acceptance of salary increases.
Nagamootoo was Minister of Information in 1992 to 1996 and in 1995 salaries were increased from $25,000 to $65,000, one dollar above what the permanent secretary was earning.
The PPP/C member noted that the Ministry of Finance records of the Parliamentary payroll can attest to the fact that be benefited from the increased salary.
As for the issue of nominations for national awards, he stated that he is unaware of this.
Dr. Ramsammy observed that in asking the Guyanese people for their votes, one’s character, policies and track records are open for scrutiny
“I did not raise these issues. He (Nagamootoo) did…he is asking the Guyanese people for their votes…I am asking questions,” he posited.

Opportunist was the cry of the Jagans against the Creoles who considered the Crown to be supreme in the colonial days.

The PPP full of opportunist, always.

Doan surprise me about Nagamootoo. He is not that impeccable. But better than the rest of PPP politicians. The people outside of the political spectrum are better qualified to run with Granger. But the way things goes in Guyana, politics is a buddy system.

Now, Ramsammy is an opportunist of the worse kind. He will use anybody to get to the people who possess the ability to give him what he wants. Jagdeo is "His President" he proclaimed. The PPP NEVER considered him for anything. He was periah in their sight. But he weasel his way into circles of Janet. Before that, he like kiss CBJ ass.

Now, this chap is just like CBJ-supporting corruption.

He said, "he would die a pauper." I doubt that. He has his pension fund with Babby. He keeping it for him until the rite time comes. And from time to time deposits are made somewhere-Guyanese people know this.

This man, claims he loves Guyana so much-and yet he sides with the PPP to sock it to the people. He get criminal released from prison.

Nagamootoo should investigate him.

This fella is one heart beat away from dying-and still so mischievous.

Ramsammy also does not know about the spy equipment although the USA Wikileaks have documented differently.

The US also thinks differently about Ministry fires.

This guy can't count 12 Surendra pumps.  First, he lied that the pumps were here.  Then we can't find them.

Do you need 5 more years of this?  These guys are so repulsive after 23 years.

Ask him how much the Chinese paid for fishing rights and the Trinidadians paid for Berbice land.

Leslie Ramsammy's credibility is as significant as a dinner plate. He is yet to refute what Moses said about his salary and nominations for awards.

Yuji's thread title is pure propaganda and malicious in its intent, and should be treated as such.

You have failed to refute any of the facts provided. This proves that Moses is a big fat pig.

Moses made his statements about salary and awards. Leslie replied with nothing that refuted those. the onus is on Leslie and those here who support his line. Moses has no refuting to do, and thus my contention that Leslie's credibility lies somewhere between the subterranean rocks and top soil. It is yet to see the light of day. I was being charitable by ascribing the characteristic of a dinner plate in describing his credibility.

Ramsammy should have stood up here and defended himself. Instead he cowered while Norman Browne exposed him and told him to his face that he was in bed with Roger Khan. Why didn't Leserley stand up and defend himself?

Marriage to Jagdeo never registered, Varshnie Singh says

Former First Lady Varshnie Singh yesterday said her nine-year marriage to President Bharrat Jagdeo was never registered.

The

Varshnie Singh

couple were married according to Hindu rites in 1998 and Singh told reporters that there were at least three attempts to register the union. She said on the first two occasions the President said he had lost the forms. By the time third attempt was made, he had assumed the presidency and had informed her that he could not be subjected to court proceedings and with that in mind she took the decision not to sign any legal documents. Singh initially did not think there was a wilful attempt to stall the process but admitted harbouring doubts in retrospect.

Singh does not have a lawyer but she is considering engaging a local firm to represent her. However, she noted that the law stipulates that in the division of property, a woman in a common-law marriage is entitled to a share of the property acquired during the marriage. She said she was a housewife during the years in the marriage before she began work with the children’s charity, the Kids First Fund.

The couple split in 2007 and have been working on a settlement since then. But last Tuesday Singh went public with complaints she did not receive proper maintenance or care during the marriage and said the Office of the First Lady was a “myth.” The previous day she had been locked out of State House on the instructions of the President and told reporters at the news conference that she had no clothing apart from what she was wearing at the time. “That was hardest thing I ever had to do in my life,” she admitted yesterday.

Singh will return to the UK on Tuesday to conduct fundraising activities for the Kids First Fund. She will return to the country in April, but met with reporters yesterday to clarify aspects of her statement.

She said her decision to go public was a last resort and emphasised that she is a “private person” but she did not see any other way. “I didn’t want to do what I ended up having to do,” she explained. “It wasn’t a joyful thing to bare your soul to the nation.” She added that she thought going public could have been avoided if the couple had agreed on an amicable parting. “I wanted to avoid conflict because he is powerful and I am an ordinary person and even if I know I tell the truth it can be spun around.”

Asked to react to critics who might say she participated in a “sham” by remaining in the union, she said, “I would say guilty as charged, but I didn’t know what else I could do. She added that she tried every single year of the marriage to get the President to agree “to call it a day” and agree to a settlement.

She dismissed the suggestion that the union was a marriage of convenience, arranged to enhance the then junior minister’s candidacy to assume the presidency. She recounted that she first saw Jagdeo when he was still Finance Minister and made his first budget presentation to the National Assembly. They met the next year at a party fundraiser in the UK and a friendship subsequently developed, she said, noting that they had similar ideas about the development of the country. She admitted that Jagdeo was “anxious” for marriage, noting that although she had suggested an engagement he insisted on marriage. “…They say women drag men up the aisle − it was the other way around,” she said, adding that she was convinced the relationship was sincere: “I thought we were in love… It was a normal relationship.”

That man plastered him and he did not have a response.

The man was a little bit too aggressive. Glad he did not pull out something from his pocket.  He was quite riled up, and went with the intention of roughing him up.

FM

The man called him a criminal to his face and Ramsammy didn't have a thing to say in his own defense.

If this was someone who was truly innocent they would have stood up and defended their name and honor like a man.

Instead he was like a complete ***** at this event.

At times, it is better to let angry people rest easy. Ramsammy was correct in not taking on the fella. People like that in rage could kill just like dat.
