North Carolina police say a mother accused of violently killing her two young daughters with a hatchet is claiming that a "ghost" committed a double-murder.

Naiyana Gauri Patel was hospitalized on Saturday with self-inflicted injuries after attempting to take her own life with the same weapon she allegedly used kill her daughters, 4-year-old Piya and 7-year-old Jiya, the Asheville Citizen-Times reported.

Laji Patel, Naiyana's husband, returned to the family's East Ashville home at approximately 10:00 am Saturday to discover his injured wife and daughters. Police said Naiyana went into her brutal assault shortly after Laji left for work that day.

Sitting in her hospital bed, Naiyana Patel, 33, told police Saturday that β€œthe ghost killed her children,” according to an officer's statement obtained by the Asheville Citizen-Times. The newspaper added that the mother resisted treatment and wished not to live.

Police are investigating the effects that Naiyana's depression medication, prescribed to her after an incomplete pregnancy, may have had on her behavior, according to local NBC affiliant WYFF.

Naiyana Patel is charged with two counts of first degree murder.

The killing spree continues...

When I tell people to laugh and smile and don't take on the world problem, you must think I am crazy. This story leads to depression, and jumbie is being blame for two children's death. Take note the next you want to fret about who is man, woman or antiman around here. When you stepped out of your door, you're entering into the real world of the unknown. Never let your guards down, folks!

Well i am quite sure it's the drug...because they wouldn't have even mentioned it, if there wasn't a good chance that's the case.

Cheap drugs or expensive drug. Drug is drug, they all do the same damage.
