Saw him Toronto  in 78. His songs are the first I began to master on guitar. One of my first was songs ever on the Guitar was song song blue, then Shilo, then Holy Holy and of course Sweet Caroline. I had a flaxen haired  Maltese girlfriend named Shilo.   I still have the Hot August night double album

I started listening to Hot August Night after we had a big old drunk up party. "You're so sweet" horseflies keep hangin round your face, that was one of the funny ones, it was really about a cow....Soggy Pretzels was a gas, we'd have a laugh. We'd play some John Prine,Johnny Cash and other stuff far from the head banging music.

I started playing the whole double album on guitar and became a fan. I've seen him about two-three times, don't even remember now.

Another one I got into was John Mills Cockell, the album was Heart Beat, he's Canadian. He did some of the early synthesizer music, I recently received an email from him after finding him on the web and contacted him. He does lots of musical scores for movies and plays.

About ten years ago I walked into a used record store in Toronto and while there I happened to ask the owner if he knew of JM Cockell and he told me no. He then showed me about ten boxes of records recently in and mostly Canadian content and he told me I'm free to take a look.

I stooped down and the third record I pulled out was Heart Beat, it blew us away. It had to be mine.

That is paul anka not Neil Diamond. I like him but i was more into the guitar gods kind of music. That is why I live in the 80's. Songs today do not even have guitars or if they do are like KT tunstall Black horse with the same variation of a  bo diddley riff all through it. The song is pretty but  I like songs like november rain... or Perl Jam Yellow ledbetter

if it has long melodic guitar riffs then it is a song I like.
