GUYANA TIMES reports:

A man who chopped off the right thumb of his wife earlier this month was remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Whim Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Maxwell Phillips of Lancaster Village, Corentyne was charged with felonious wounding.  He was remanded to prison.  The charge resulted from investigations into an incident on March 9, 2012, where he is alleged to have chopped off the right thumb of his wife, Alicia Edwards-Phillips, who is a special constable attached to the Guyana Police Force.
