THIS JUST IN : I take great pride and pleasure in announcing that both novels, "The Flour Convoy" and "The February 23 Coup", written by Guyanese-American writer Chaitram Singh, have been nominated for "Book of the Year" by the Georgia Writers Association. Winners will be announced on June 16, 2012. Chaitram is an old boy of Corentyne High School and Queen's College of Guyana.

I read February 23 Coup. Suggest that you guys should read it, although it is a fiction I can relate to some of the things Chaitram talked about in the book.

Wishing you Good Luck, Chaitram.

Army Captain Alan Moore and his wife, Jeanene, are seeking to emigrate to the United States. Conditions of life in the land of their birth have deteriorated immensely, and the Moore family has fallen out of favor with the ruling dictator. The Moores are waiting for the letter from the U.S. Embassy notifying them of their final interview.

While carrying out his duties as Commander of F-Company, Alan objects to the corrupt practices he observes, including ballot-box tampering during the national election. This further isolates him from his military superiors and, when he stumbles onto a smuggling operation, he is falsely accused and incarcerated.

Will the dictator succeed in humiliating Alan and his family, or will his wife and his friends succeed in freeing him?

hhmmmmm....maybe i should reconsider this kindle now.

i really enjoy holding a book and have a good relaxing read

but there are times when i don't have a book and i really don't want to go to the bookstore or the library.....and i am thinking that's when the kindle will come in handy.

also.....i think the cost of book on kindle is a definite plus.

VB, when my grandson(daughter's son) hears he is coming to spend the day or weekend, he would always ask to go to the book store & toy store. Smile Hubby & I took him to the book store when he was about 2; he still remembers. The Barnes & Noble in my 'hood, has a toy section too.

He was here last weekend. We too him on Saturday... I told him only 1 book & 1 toy; he can choose... he got 2 of each. Gram-ma(that's how he calls me) is a soft heart where here 2 princes are concerned.

He loves to cook... I always make something with him when he comes over. I even got him a chef hat & apron. Smile Last Sat we made pizza & on Sunday we made bread. Smile
